I live in New England, just went through hot and humid weather.

I have ph reading of 8.2, (purple color) which I believe indicates "add acid." Just yesterday I added ph increase, and chlorine tabs. Can I just wait and let the ph decrease on its own?

Also, two days ago I shocked my 15 x 24 x 4 pool as well.

What is the effect of the chlorine float being sucked into the opening for the the water intake> How do I prevent this?

Looking for a solution to pool itch associated with bacteria.

You should post a full set of water test results.

Without a full set of test results, nobody can give you more than general advice.

Ph may or may not move on its own. Some pools tend to drift one way, some the other.

pH readings are suspect unless you have a chlorine reading as well. Higher chlorine levels affect the pH test.

Chlorine floaters just don't get chlorine into the water fast enough to keep up with any significant demand. They may be suitable as a supplement or to help when you are away, but otherwise you need to look at another method for chlorination.
