Hello all!
The manual of my pentair 420 clean and clear plus (brand new installation) calls for adding some diatomaceous.
The pool guy who installed it did not add any and says it does not need it and will clog the filter prematurely.
What do you guys think of this?

It certainly doesn't require DE to work correctly. Adding DE will increase the flow resistance a little and it will also make the filter just slightly better at filtering very small particles. If you do add DE, make sure you only do so once (until you get a new cartridge.
