What do you guys think..I am going to put my Bubba Keg smoker in place of a gas grill since that is all I use. I wish i could avoid the brick column but it's not possible since it is part of the patio structure.

See if you can integrate the column to an edge so they can lean on it. The one on the right in mine is like that and I do lean on it regularly...
