Newly Filled-Stonescape Pool WAY OVER CYA'd by Pool Builder

You are all correct, I will backwash 1st thing tomorrow morning. And my pool is accurately 22,000 gal: I have a separate 'yard water meter' and I measured the cubic feet going in (without using any other hose or watering). AND it actually matched my calc when I drew my pool up in autocad...

Newly Filled-Stonescape Pool WAY OVER CYA'd by Pool Builder

Just talked to the pool builder. He said he added 18 lbs of granular CYA. He said "don't worry about it...wait for 2 weeks, it hasn't all dissolved yet". So I'll just bring my FC up, run the pump just during the day now, and check the CYA in 2 weeks, and he said I can change out the D.E. in 3...

Newly Filled-Stonescape Pool WAY OVER CYA'd by Pool Builder

The CYA was in granular form, and poured dry into the skimmer. I tested twice using disappearing black dot method in the Taylor Kit. It has no markings for ove 100ppm so but the dot disapears below that mark, so I'm guessing 120ppm. In the 3rd paragraph, are you saying that I should keep my FC...

Newly Filled-Stonescape Pool WAY OVER CYA'd by Pool Builder

My Pool just got a new Stonescape finish, acid washed/scrubed, pressure washed and drained before filling with fresh water. Ran pump 2 days, very clear water, looks GREAT. 3rd day I was about to do my own start up (using TFP site and my new Taylor kit) but others convinced me to get the PB to...

Fill Water Testing from Hose or just filled Pool? Pebble Finish getting filled today

My pool will be getting filled this afternoon after a StoneScapes pebble finish is acid washed this morning. I just bought my Taylor K2006 (after 2 decades of doing a poor job with basic kits... but not any more!). I will likely need assistance from TFP getting started, so my question is...

Do 2-speed pumps need controler to prime with Solar?

It's almost 1 year since I originated this posting about purchasing the variable speed pump. I DID, and I got the Pentair Variable Speed 11018 (the one that does NOT have the flow sensor/regulator/safety thing) It works flawlessly. It was very easy to program it high rpm enough to pump up to my...

Do 2-speed pumps need controler to prime with Solar?

Thanks for all the great info guys. I'm happy to be your Guinea Pig Brentr! :-D BUT I've now changed my mind on the 2 speed. I'm going to buy a Variable Speed tomorrow. I've read lots about the Pentair Intelliflo's and issues with solar, so here is my findings regarding Pentair Variable Speeds...

Do 2-speed pumps need controler to prime with Solar?

My 2hp 9 year old Pentair just gave out. I'm thinking of replacing with a 2-speed motor at 1.5hp. Here's my plan: WINTER: Run the low speed the required time for turnover/cleaning and save $$ over what I WAS doing. SUMMER & "shoulder season" April-October: When I get plenty of sun for my roof...
