Just got my first SWCG - the Circupool Edge 40 from Discount Salt Pools but would like some advice on installation. The installation manual recommends 6-12" of straight pipe prior to the flow switch, which I can't quite squeeze in a horizontal install position, so I'm limited to doing it...
Yes - once the water gets to the bottom of the skimmer, water loss slows to match evaporation rates. Also, sealing off skimmer with my winterizing plug in the bottom makes no difference, so it can't be in the buried plumbing (thank goodness).
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this already - but any possible way to patch the bottom of my skimmer? I'm losing somewhere between 1-2" of water per day and so far this spot looks like the culprit based on my testing.
NOT looking forward to having to dig this out and replace it but will...
Also waiting impatiently here in Northern Indiana. Had to grab 10 gallons of Walmart's 10% Pool Essentials @ $3.64 this weekend to get a SLAM going, but anxious to stock up on the good stuff at a great price to get me through the summer. Looks like my local store has nearly doubled its stock in...
I too closed following all the info here and made it almost all winter with crystal clear water. I checked just 7-10 days ago and it looked awesome. Peeked last night and its a dark green monster. On my way to round up some liquid gold now. Darn this mild winter we had.
First - your chlorine test measurements in .2 increments: If you look a little further down in the K-2006 instructions, you'll see info on using a 10mL sample instead of 25. Do that and only use 1 scoop of DPD powder. It will conserve your powder and #3 reagent and will be faster since you have...
Even though the sock is empty, it can take up to a week for the increased CYA to show up on your test. For now, assume that what you added is there for purposes of your SLAM then re-test in a week or so and adjust if needed.
I went through a similar process just a couple of months ago. I was lucky to find a great local company who was happy to let me do as much of the work as I wanted on my own. Along with my wife and a few friends, we drained the water, mucked out the hopper and cleaned up all the loose...
Thanks to a really warm week, we're just about ready for the first dip in our recently rehabbed pool. Did an OCLT last night/this morning and it was < .5 - yay! pH was perfect and TA is still higher than desired, so I'm going to slowly work that down over the summer with aeration and muriatic...
The 45M5 is on the way. I think for now I'm going to just grab this $20 outdoor digital timer and set it to run while the pump timer is running. I'm already way over budget on the rest of the startup equipment and mechanicals. Since I bought this secondhand, all I'm receiving is the pump itself...
Finally spent some time on the pool today and even gave The Mrs a brief TFPC tutorial. She's coming around... Water temp is up to a "balmy" 55. Brrrr! New numbers after sunset tonight...
