Happy to report that I was able to successfully remove the robot with minimal debris leakage. Key is to take it out by the middle of the handle, and let water drain out before leaning/bringing it onto the deck. The angle of the handle makes the black sleeve cover the intake area during drainage...

Thanks for the response! Its door is clipped together fine and the black fabric is there. From the look of the black fabric, it seems like it should cover the suction hole when pulled straight up. I’ll try again in a few and report back.

Good advice. We may try for new liner and updated deck and coping, I think we can get more bang for buck in those areas.

Our pool deck is over 25 yrs old, miserable to walk on (who put hot black pebbles in the mix??), and pretty broken up. Also time to replace 8 yr old liner. We are thinking about replacing the deck with something else. Also thinking about eliminating the side entrance and replacing with ledges...

Update...my silicone caulk solution was only temporary, and its leaking again. No way to deal with those few thread remaining except to replace the whole thing. So back to BamaRamblers plan linked above. Not as easy for sure, but definitely more permanent.
