TFP saved my pool. Im saying THANKS with a donation

Just made a donation in response to your email/video. I truly was lobbying husband for bulldozing a 35K+ pool, because I couldnt stand the hassle and cost of local poolstore “advice”. Learned how to test, balance, anticipate and deal with problems, use minimal chemicals, switch to SWG, all on...

Dolphin Active 30- debris reenters pool?

Happy to report that I was able to successfully remove the robot with minimal debris leakage. Key is to take it out by the middle of the handle, and let water drain out before leaning/bringing it onto the deck. The angle of the handle makes the black sleeve cover the intake area during drainage...

Dolphin Active 30- debris reenters pool?

Thanks for the response! Its door is clipped together fine and the black fabric is there. From the look of the black fabric, it seems like it should cover the suction hole when pulled straight up. I’ll try again in a few and report back.

Dolphin Active 30- debris reenters pool?

Hi all, just replaced my old (10yrs?) Aquabot robot with a new Dolphin Active 30. Love the top loading filter, but having a problem. When I pull the robot out of pool, a lot of debris comes out of the filter basket back into to pool. Is there a “best” way to take it out to minimize debris drop...

New to borates, What borate test strip is best?

Today jumped off the deep end and added 70lbs boric acid powder from that Duda Energy guy (yes I realize granules better, but I stupidly ordered powder and got my workout stirring in with a whale tale) added to my 35k gall pool per PoolMath instructions to get to 42. Below are my beautiful pool...

    Low TA, high pH

Do you think adding borates to my pool would help stabilize the TA/pH issues in the future? Ive bever really considered it bc my pool is merrily rolling along with few problems.

    Low TA, high pH

Thanks guys, that is good advice and makes sense to me. So Pool Math tells me that I should add 10lbs baking soda to increase TA from 50 to 70. When you use the “effect of adding” function, it says will increase 50 to 70 and will have 0 impact on pH. (Huh??? I must have missed that part of...

    Suggestions for deck replacement/renovation

Good advice. We may try for new liner and updated deck and coping, I think we can get more bang for buck in those areas.

    Suggestions for deck replacement/renovation

Our pool deck is over 25 yrs old, miserable to walk on (who put hot black pebbles in the mix??), and pretty broken up. Also time to replace 8 yr old liner. We are thinking about replacing the deck with something else. Also thinking about eliminating the side entrance and replacing with ledges...

How to replace sand filter drain outlet-the dog ate my pool!

Update...my silicone caulk solution was only temporary, and its leaking again. No way to deal with those few thread remaining except to replace the whole thing. So back to BamaRamblers plan linked above. Not as easy for sure, but definitely more permanent.
