water leak outside of the pump

Good tip - I picked up this one from Amazon with one day shipping and will try installing it tomorrow :) - Thanks! https://smile.amazon.com/PACK-Hi-Temp-Union-Whisperflo-Intelliflo/dp/B00AKMV4K8/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=high+temp+union&qid=1628956280&sr=8-3

water leak outside of the pump

Further up the pipe there is a union that I was able to disconnect and then unscrew the pipe from the pump. I cleaned off the teflon tape and that caulk like substance in the picture in the first post. The threads on the pipe looked fine. I applied a new layer of tape, screwed the pipe back in...

water leak outside of the pump

Thank you both - makes sense! I'll be waiting until this heat wave passes as we don't want to be without the pool should something go wrong.

water leak outside of the pump

Thanks - I'm not too familiar with these. Does it involve cutting the pipe above the lip and then unscrewing (assuming its threaded) the union off the pump?

water leak outside of the pump

I have a water leak just above the pump/basket. Its not a big water loss, but as the day goes on, the area around is all wet. Does anyone have recommendations on fixing the leak? Thanks!

Sand filter pressure consistently a bit higher than usual

Thanks for the response. Valves are all open fully. It seems that there is also weakened suction in the skimmers. Pressure from the return jets seems fine, but water is not moving around as much and leaves and such not getting pulled into the skimmers (2). I dont think theres an obstruction in...

Sand filter pressure consistently a bit higher than usual

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts. My pool is about 7 years old and since the beginning the filter pressure has almost always run at about 15psi. For some reason, a few weeks after opening the pool this season it started running consistently at about 17-18psi. The filter is clear - I have...

    Opening pool...

Don't be discouraged by the algae. My pool is green every opening but is crystal clear within a couple days following SLAM instructions. Use muriatic acid to bring your PH down to 7.2-7.5, add enough stabilizer to bring your CYA to 30, then start adding the liquid chlorine/bleach to bring and...

Rotating jets getting stuck in up position

My pool has 4 rotating jets in the main part of the pool (there are spinning jets in the step areas). 3 of the 4 rotating jets are getting stuck when they hit the "up" position and don't continue rotating unless I manually give them a nudge. I've tried opening them and making sure there's no...

Pool closed and hot days ahead

Yeah, it's a mesh safety cover that they claim blocks 98% UV but I think that's largely exaggerated.

Pool closed and hot days ahead

I'm here in NJ and usually open my IG pool in early May each year. Looking at the forecast for tomorrow, we are expecting possible record highs in the upper 80's before it cools back down Thursday and Friday. I'm hoping this one day of heat won't be enough to trigger an algae bloom. I was...

Calcium Hardness Vinyl Pool with Heater

I recently added 10lbs to my pool. I used a 5 gallon bucket, filled it about 3/4 with pool water, and added 5lbs of the calcium. Stirred until completely dissolved and then poured into the deep end. I waited several hours and repeated the process with the next 5lbs. I had no issue this time with...

Calcium Hardness Vinyl Pool with Heater

Great information here - thanks everyone! I also have a vinyl pool with heater as well as a rock waterfall feature. If my CH is low, I will start finding small mortar pieces in the pool from the waterfall returns. My CH is currently at 110 so based on what I'm reading here, would ~200 be...
