    AGP Bottom recommendations

splashpad, We had an severe hail storm back in March which destroyed a brand new winter cover and damaged the liner, along with a whole lot of other things. The insurance company gave us a settlement for the cover and the liner and since the bottom has been bugging me for several years, I'll...

    AGP Bottom recommendations

Didn't mean to post that yet. :) I have a 24' AGP. I'm looking at replacing the liner, and in the process want to replace the bottom. The current bottom is bunch of foam pads taped together. This was here when I bought the house, so I didn't install it myself. I had to replace the liner...

Do you run your pump non-stop?

Last year, I ran my pump 10 hours a day in 5 hour increments. I was vacuuming twice a week. This year, although I planned to do the same thing with the pump, I never got around to setting the timer, so it has been running non-stop since April. Now, (with the exception of pollen season,) I...

    Muriatic Acid

When I add MA, I usually add it either a pint or a quart at a time. I have a 1 gallon container marked off in 1qt and 1/2qt (1pt) increments. (I can easily eyeball a 1 cup measurement if I have to.) I'll put 2 quarts of water in the container, then pour the required amount of MA into that...

Reinstalling a 2 year old liner

I have some sort of foam bottom on my AGP, and the seams are coming apart. I installed a new liner in September 2009, and re-taped all the seams at that time. Even so, the seams are coming apart and leaving deep grooves in the floor. In addition, the bottom is not smooth, but has a number of...

Do I really need a pillow under the cover?

My first winter with a pool, I didn't use a pillow, but I also had an undetected leak that drained most of my pool over the winter. I used one last year, and it was helpful in keeping the rain and snow-melt water toward the sides of the cover. That is, until it popped. (Maybe over-inflated...

    Aaaagh! Bees!

If they are swarming like that, they are probably trying to build a hive. The only way to fix that is to move the queen. Your best bet is to find a local beekeeper. They will be able to capture the queen and the rest and move them to a more suitable place. We had a similar issue at my office...

    Blasted leaks

Mine flexes sideways. The pipe is supported at the bottom by the pad and the ground, but the pipe doesn't quite line up straight with the heat pump. My best guess is that when the PB installed it before I bought the house, they didn't line things up properly before they glued it all together...

    Blasted leaks

Actually, in my particular case, the fountain makes matters worse, because it gives the kids more leverage to force it to turn. The plumbing isn't flush against the wall, so the wall is always flexed at bit, causing one side of the ring to always touch the wall. At some times, the bind becomes...

    SpeedStir bar not spinning.

Well that was pretty stooopid! :hammer: Naturally it would be the batteries. I really should have thought to check that first. Oh, well. Replaced the batteries, and it's back to it's old self, complete with spinning the mixing tube on the base. I expected it to be two coils instead...

    SpeedStir bar not spinning.

I bought the Taylor SpeedStir earlier this year, and it's been really handy for testing. I've been happy with it. But... (of course there's a "but") lately, the bar hasn't really been spinning in the cylinder. Instead, it sort of vibrates, and makes about 10 revolutions per minute, compared...

    Blasted leaks

The wear seems to be due to the way the Aqualuminator is designed. Instead of having an eyeball to direct water flow, the outer ring (part 4 in the exploded diagram) turns, allowing the return flow to be somewhat directed. Since the plumbing doesn't sit quite flush against the wall of the...
