Older Hayward pool filter - Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic? Irritation?

I have an older Hayward 900 series cartridge filter. I was recently working in the pool pump area updating some plumbing and I noticed that I get very itchy and irritated after brushing my arms up against the filter housing. It feels like it would if you crawl around in fiberglass insulation...

Union fitting sheared off when tightening onto p

Now if only i could find a new union fitting. I bought the three I am installing at Pinch a penny, but when I called them, they said they had no more. So now I am driving all around town trying to get one more.

Union fitting sheared off when tightening onto p

Got IT!! Whew that's a relief! I used a 1.5"x1.5" pice of aluminum angle. I cut one of the sides to a L-shaped profile, and tapped it into the pipe and unscrewed it. Worked GREAT!

Union fitting sheared off when tightening onto p

I was putting a new unnion fitting on the pump and while I was tightening it down it cracked right off. I am a bit surprised. I thought it would have been stronger. I was using Oatly white pipe joint compound on the threads. Is there a way to remove this?

    Quick pump replumbing question

I am replacing the connections to my pump with black high-temp union fittings due to a leaking high pressure output side. I will be replumbing the inlet, outlet, and putting a union fitting on the inlet of the filter. I will be putting new pipe from the pump to the filter to clean that area up...

Pump output leaking at the threads

Thanks everyone! The blue substance is some sort of silicone based sealant. Its luckily not rain or shine pvc glue. I like the price of the high temp union fittings so i think i will install a third one on the inlet of the filter. I have a hayward c900. I am just not sure of the thread size...

Pump output leaking at the threads

Thanks everyone. I was about to order and was going to ask about the MIP thread size on the pump, but CowboyCasey helped out there! Thanks again!!

Pump output leaking at the threads

So it sounds like I should get two union fittings (CMP) and put one on the inlet and outlet? From there just replumb the mate for the other half of the true union?

Pump output leaking at the threads

Back story : Back in 2011 i had solar installed for the pool. Due to inexperience and extra water going to the solar, there were times when the pump would start running dry and i would only catch it once i got home from work. At about the same time a leak started forming at the threaded pump...

GL-235 with no power and a possible blown capacitor

Sounds similar to what might of happened with me. This might be related to a day about a week ago when my wife informed me that we had no internet service. When I got home, I found that the router, cable modem , and a network switch were all toast. Some sort of power surge happened I guess...

GL-235 with no power and a possible blown capacitor

Well I am finally home from travel for the past 3 months and decided to take a dip in the pool. Well, I put one foot in and realized to was too cold. I went and checked on the Solar controller, and sure enough, there were no lights on. When I flipped the switch on the actuator value to "Open"...

Any issue with Concrete table and chairs in pool?

I saw a photo of my friends pool and loved that he had built in table next to the side ledge. He told me that it was not built in but just a garden variety outdoor concrete table. I thought that was a brilliant idea! I had been thinking about building some custom welded aluminum chairs and a...
