    Thanks guys, I'll tie a sock to a return to see what's coming from the filter. Maybe it's not pool sand, but it feels like sand, and is heavy, drops right back to the bottom of the small bucket I washed the Aquabot filter in. The organic stuff floated away as I washed it. Birds, in general...

    Need to remove side mount multiport to deep clean sand?

    Thanks, I will PM Smykowski. It would be easier to remove the sand and wash it in buckets, rather than remove the multiport in my installation!

    My Triton sand filter has a side mount multiport valve. Is it OK to place the valve on "CLOSE", then remove top from the filter and use a garden hose to wash the sand? The sticky about deep cleaning says to isolate the filter from the pool plumbing, so should I remove the valve? I see no...
