New Pool Build in Frisco, TX

A heat pump is different than propane. A heat pump is designed to pull heat from the air which means they aren't very effective past a certain outside temperature. Have they installed others in the area? I would see if you can get contacts of their previous customers who have used one and see...

New Pool Build in Frisco, TX

Yes, we thought of everything. Propane against city code. We could have run gas line from nearby neighborhood at $10/ft. We are only about $5,000 away from the closest gas line. IT didn't seem worth it. We decided to see how it goes for a season and then investigate solar. I liked the idea...

New Pool Build in Frisco, TX

We live in Frisco in an all electric neighborhood. Our only heater option was electric. Our builder refused to sell us one. They said financially it is not feasible to actually use. I believe the comments were along the lines of "It takes longer to heat than gas and once you get the first bill...

    Another DFW Pool Build... Mansfield

As someone who has had their coping pulled up multiple times (four times in some places) I can say something will get damaged. Try to expect it and just know it will get fixed too. I HIGHLY recommend going out and wiping off your tile and coping once they replace it to make sure you get off...

    Tanning ledge too small

I would stick to making them fix it. We use our ledge way more than I thought we would. It's where everyone hangs out. It will be a lot of work, but worth it.

    Advice on Pool Quotes

Re: New pool build in Prosper, TX - looking for advice on these quotes Not sure about the linear feet method. We are in Frisco and just build end of last year. Our pool is approx 17x36. We upgraded our tile (1x1 glass) and our plaster (primera stone) and our robot. We also have multiple...

Houston, TX Pool Build Diary - From Design to Dive-In

LOVE the water wall! Not sure if the top sprays are a design element added by the companies or a something you requested, but I thought I would throw out my two cents on them. I love them and from a design standpoint they look nice. In reality, they are REALLY loud. I now wish I had scrapped...

I haven't taken them seriously enough - mosquitos

I recommend spraying yourself and around your seat with gold Listerine. I read about it online and didn't believe it could possibly work, but it was so cheap I decided it was worth a try. I bought a large spray bottle in the cleaning section and just poured the whole bottle in full strength...

Seeking Pool Landscaping ideas -- hot in Texas, pool has direct sun

We looked and looked for trees that met all our criteria and finally gave up. Everything got too big or dropped too much gunk. We wound up going with a large cantilever umbrella with full turn and tilt. I put it up over the pool on really bad days. All the landscaping we did was drought...

    Sun-shelf/Baja Shelf chairs????

I found folding beach chairs at Target and Sam's early in the season this year. The Target ones rusted immediately after the first use, so I returned them. I am finding the Sam's ones are now too. I am very careful about pulling them out of the water. I am not happy with that as we have very...

    Bubblers

We have three bubblers which stick up very slightly from the ledge. If we are in the pool they are generally on, so they are easy to spot. Even if you do step on them it wouldn't hurt in any way. Kids and the dog love them. Keep in mind each water feature is also more noise!

Which quartz plaster brand is best? Plaster subs needed. New pool build Arizona

We used Wet Edge's Primera Stone in Sky Blue Treasure. We also are not fans of the Pebbletec feel and were looking for an alternative. We were originally quoted their Luna Quartz product, but after seeing the sample of Primera Stone knew it was what we wanted. We weren't sure it was going to...

New Fill and Questions on start up

This morning's numbers: pH still over 8.0 TA 90 CH 260 I'm not sure how to interpret the bouncing numbers. Not sure if it's my testing methods or the cold water. When testing for CH do you count turning from red to violet or count until it's fully blue? I am counting to blue. Ok, read the...

New Fill and Questions on start up

Thanks. I read the pool school article, but I will go check the NPC card. I think they used an acid start-up method. Based on what I have read so far I am mainly concerned about the pH because I know it's over 8.0 already. Fill Water FC .8 CC 1.6 pH over 8.0 TA 130 CH 250 Afternoon after...
