Do you have a salt system? If so, then they could be coming from the SWG. I can see small bubbles coming out of the closest return to the pump when the pump is on low and the SWG is running. Turning off the SWG makes the bubbles go away.

I use my XL for the walls and the standard nylon brush for the floor. Since I have a pool cleaner, I think it works pretty well. And yes, the XL is really tough to use on the floor, but that's why it's called a Wall Whale.
