OK guys thanks for the info... and Yes I do Add the Chlorine after the sun goes down, and Yes I do wait an hour (pump running), and I do get up first thing in the morning and check it to see how many FC I have lost. And I don't have a ladder, I just have steps comming out of the shallow end...

Thanks I appreciate the info... I have had my FC levels at shock level for about a week now, have you guys ever heard of people needing to shock this long? and still consume a lot of Chlorine like this?

I don't have an autofill... but I have noticed a little loss of water. I thought it was b/c of evaporation b/c it has been hot here... the FIlter and pump are new and there are no leaks around that(no water whatsoever on the concrete near)... I have an inground so where on earth would I start...

hey guys, Funny thing is, I did raise my CYA levels abt 10 days ago from 30 to 55, and it didn't help much at all... and I am using the Taylor K2006 test kit, I have used the BBB method last year and it worked great... with my Pool Size my Calculations are usually pretty spot on with 1 182oz...

so I have read the how to shock your pool article and pool school... but I have been shocking my pool and placing Tons of bleach in it and after about a week of keeping my FC above 20 and still losing about 5 FC over night, I decided to raise it to 30, and it still lost 5 FC overnight, then...

I tried to chlorine tablet, and it didn't do anything for the stain... I am getting ready to close my pool for the winter, so I think I will do the AA test, then close the pool. any suggestions would be appreciated. the local pool store recommended 'stain free'...

Thanks for the advice, no I didn't try a chlorine tablet, I will tomorrow... I just did the Vitamin C test and it faded great so I just assumed.... can anyone tell me what a sequestering agent is and where to get it? thx

I didn't fill from a well... my pool was fine all summer long and the only water that was put in was tap water and rain water, so I was a little baffled on why the stains appeared. So do I just go to my pool store and ask them for a sequestering agent? how much do I get for my 18,000 pool?

its not just at the water line... there and below, and I have hit it with a magic eraser, and it lightens... I was curious how it got there in the first place.... can ph 8.0+ cause that? if so HOW???

AH, so just putting my nightly small amount to raise my fc to my target, shouldn't affect it much? thanks... anyone have any ideas on the light yellowish/brown color at the water line on my white plastic stairs???

My TA level is 85.. and I have been chlorinating with 6% bleach I like all the suggestions on the other ways ph can be affected... I don't have a cover, new plaster, or swg. Also, I read in another post that putting in bleach temporarily increases ph (but about how much, and about how long?)

can someone give me a little more info on PH... what are the key factors that affect increases and decreases? I seem to be having a little trouble keeping mine in check... I have been using the BBB method for the 1st year and love it, Thanks TFP! I seem to need to drop my ph from 8.0 down...
