Pentair IC 20 not keeping up with chlorine generation!!!

I had a very similiar problem with my Aquacell T15 (see my post "Cannot maintain FC with SWG"). Turned out to be organics (nanscent algae bloom). Fixed by keeping correct shock level until the overnight FAS-DPD test indicated no FC loss. Make sure you get the right shock level (read the Pool...

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

Just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who helped me with this problem. After shocking my pool for 4 days (like I should have the first time), my SWG is now maintaining a FC level as it should. Also, during this time I was fighting a high TA and again, your suggestions on using aeration...

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

Also, the white flaking I mentioned in an earlier post was cal deposits on the cell. Once I cleaned the cell, the deposits stopped.

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

Since the last FAS-DPD test on 9/27 (less than 1ppm FC loss and zero CC), the FC has gone down hill again. Today, it is maybe .5ppm and the pool is clouding up. I am ready to rip this SWG off the wall and toss it in my lake. But, being stubborn, I will get this fixed, so I am going back to...

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

Well I was not able to rerun the FAS-DPD test last week, I ran out of the 0870 reagent.... But there apparently is good news (and a question of course). Since the last shocking on 9/14, I have maintained a FC of almost 8 running the SWG on 85% with a CC of 0. That is 5 days without adding...

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

After shocking for 2 days, I re-ran the FAS-DPD test last night; 8pm FC 21.5 CC .2 7am this morning FC 20 CC 0 I am going to shock again this afternoon and then run the test again. Thanks to all, I appreciate any info provided.

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

Poolsean, the pool was resurfaced this past June/July with Pebble sheen. Per pebble tec, we could not use salt water for the first 30 days while the surface "cured". Surfacing was completed the end of June, pool was fresh filled using only chlorine (I checked the chemicals every day, brushed...

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

Reran FAS-DPD last night, again using 25ml. Here are the results; 8pm reading last night; FC 17ppm (85 drops 0871) CC .2 (1 drop #3) 8am reading this morning; FC 13.8 (69 drops 0871) CC .2 (1 drop #3) Nothing has been added but chlorine, SWG has been off.

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

I think I need to step back. My error, I ran the SWG as usual last night so I need to redo the overnight test. But I want to be clear on what I need to do. 1. Since I lost 13ppm during the day yesterday (with the SWG running), should I continue to shock or monitor the FC until it gets down to...

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

I had added 2 1/2 gals chlorine around noon yesterday. At 7pm last evening, I did the DPD chlorine test. FC and TC were 0 again. I added another 2 1/2 gals of chlorine around 7:30pm and then did the FAS-DPD test at 9pm using the 25ml mark. It took 89 drops of 0871 to turn clear. I added 5 drops...

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

I added the chlorine this afternoon. Before I added it, I ran tests again; Salt 3100 Water temp 84 FC 0 CC 0 PH 7.4 TA 130 CH 300 CYA 70 Phosphates less than 100 I could not test chlorine after adding it, will do it after work.

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

OK, did the FAS-DPD test using the 25ml sample. Result this morning was the same as last night; added DPD powder, water never turned pink even after 4 dippers. Added 5 drops reagent #3, turned slightly pink. Turned clear after 1 drop R-0871. Also did the DPD chlorine test for FC and TC at each...

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

Simicrintz, I have a Kreepy that I run 3 or 4 days a week, plus I brush the sides at least once a week. The SWG cell is rated by Goldine for up to 40,000 gals. The pool is only used for a few hours on weekends and it is only my wife and I. I have not done the overnight test, will be going to...

    Cannot maintain FC with SWG

Thanks all, pool is 12,000 gal. Not sure how I can have algae since FC was maintained at 3 - 4 while pool was curing for 30 days. FC dropped only after I stopped using chlorine and started the SWG. I checked the pool last night about 11pm with pool light on, it was absolutely crystal clear.
