What Kind of Grass to use in FL?

I cant speak for anyone else, but I had to resod my yard. I put down Flortam, then seeded the sod with zoysa and bermuda grass. Its an odd combination, but each grass offers its own strenghts, By doing it this way, it stays greener with less water, still has softer grass in it. (no florida grass...

    New Chlorine scare.

Re: I can hear the EPA knocking at our door already! "who suggested the problems caused by a reduction in levels of disinfectant could be offset if swimmers showered before taking a dip, wore bathing caps and refrained from urinating" This is my favorite quote in the article. Really why I dont...

I feel so sick after swimming

speaking as a nurse 94 can be warm, depending upon your underlying medical conditions. If you have high blood pressure and take meds, you may be causing your body to have low blood pressure as the added warmth will increase the size of your vascular compartments but generally unlikey at 94...

    Help with frog invaders, please!

Here is a couple of things to try Spraying salt water around the pool will help for a bit but they tend to become accustomed to it after a few months. Depends on the type of frog. Works well for tree frogs. Also Mothballs can keep some frogs away but not all You can also try spraying vinegar...

What is in my pool? Pics included

When I had a DE filter and had changed it to Perlite or the other replacement stuff, I had a small tear in one of the laterals, it would sometimes spit out this kind of stuff. Usually a grey color. I got rid of the filter because it was old. Also I come from the midwest. I know that if you get...

TA reduced 70 points using a fountain

Never figured this one out. Now my TA stays at 90. Thats a major drop from the first result of 190 Only thing I can think of is when I spray off the concrete deck area there may be some "natural" acids that washed into the pool. Using the fountain, I now see the increase in ph when used...

Bleach is cheaper, but cal hypo is easier to carry

I would recheck the prices at the store you mentioned. I can get 2.5 gallons 10.5% liquid chlorine there for $4.86 They come in a reuseable container. Call the main number on the website and check prices, then have them send you a quote to give to the store manager, they might price match.

Ok, I want to test, but $68?!

I too thought the the kits were a bit costly, but since I have started using this method I have started to save some real $$$ for pool care So far I have gone from 30 to 50 per month minimum in chemicals to less than $20 per month switching to liquids. The kits pay for themselves over time.
