I can't kneel at the pool side to reach in the water to get a sample to test. Would getting into the water to collect my water sample effect the test results?

Howdy Everyone I am a inheritor of 45 yr old in-ground pool from my deceased father. This season we have drained our pool to replace plaster in many places. I thought I would try this season using a test kit instead of guessing. I have much to learn.
