I have read that and think I do have black algae. I am getting my bottom redone and new liner this fall. I DIY my pool and the bottom was NOT smooth, has lots of little divots. I think that is how black algae is setting in .. I am going to get the bottom reskinned.

My pool is about 8 year old, I built it myself. Over the past couple summers I keep getting black spots in the pool. This year it is taking over. Almost impossible to get off. If I get in and scrub extremely hard it will dissolve into green dust. I did SLAM before with no results (last year)...

Yep, totally agree with this. Mine always reads zero when I open if I dont bring it up to room temp first.

Im in MD and almost always open mid March ... this year was a littler later in March but I never wait til April. Always open to clear pool. Fire heater up and we were swimming three weeks ago.

For future use, get a hayward inlet seat removal tool. They are very cheap, like $5 or so, and work great without fear of yanking a hole in the liner. I too used screwdriver but was always worried, this little tool makes it easy without worry. As for leaks, i'd say watch water level for a bit.

Totally agree ... stick a screwdriver in long ways and twist, should come open.

Looks very similar to mine ... if you wouldnt mind could you private message me the maker of your liner? Curious if it is the same. They handled it very well though. You could put a patch on that easily to prevent losing more water til you decide what to do next. Personally I had liner material...

I had the exact same issue 5 years ago when I installed mine. Within a couple weeks I had one seam along the edge that separated. The company sent me a new liner and said there must have been an issue with their machine that sets the seams. I ended up patching mine though and never replaced it...

My kids were in at 65, don't stay long though. They were in at 75 and swam for couple hours. I myself like 82-85. My wife likes 95 lol
