    Why use Calcium Hypochlorite?

Does all the ingredients in calcium hypochrite eventually become soluable and therefore would not clog a filter?

    Why use Calcium Hypochlorite?

I add the cal hypo by sprinkling it around the deep end. I needed to increase the calcium levels in my pool so I thought it would be convenient to add chlorine and calcium at the same time. I guess i can still use it by disolving it in a bucket, let the insoluble part settle, and carefully pour...

    Why use Calcium Hypochlorite?

I was using Calcium Hypochlorite occasionally as a chlorine boost; however, after using a few bags my filter would start to clog. I used RE-FRESH brand. It is 68% Cal Hypo and 32% Other Ingredients. There seems to be a lot of insoluble ingredients. My question is: Why add this stuff if part of...

Can this be used to raise CH level?

I'm not worried about the rise in pH because I can lower it with MA. I'm worried about stains or damaging my SWG. I thought magnesium was beneficial in preventing scale? Please read the post below: a-potential-aid-to-calcium-scale-t55752.html Thanks for any advice.

Can this be used to raise CH level?

I was wondering if pellitized lime, usually used for lawns, can be used in a plaster pool to raise CH level. Here's a picture of the ingredients. I bought it in Lowes for $4.49 for 40 lbs. That's 1/20 the price of the calcium increaser sold in pool stores.

    Automatic Dishwasher Detergent Gel

I was just wondering if it's better to use a gel type of detergent than powder when cleaning filter cartridges? I would think the gel would dissolve better than powder. Also, would the ratio of one cup per five gallons of water apply to the gel type of detergent?

    Adding salt

Is it ok to add salt in the evening with the pump off? Will leaving salt resting on marcite for 15 hours damage the marcite? It would be more convenient if I could just dump the salt in and let it slowly disolve at it's own pace. Thanks

    pH of 7.4 or 7.3 ?

If 7.0 pH is classified as neutral, wouldn't 7.0 to 7.2 pH be best for a marcite pool? In other words, in that range the water in neither acidic (that would cause pitting) nor alkaline (which would encourage scaling).

    Barracuda g3 stopped moving

If there's not enough suction the Barracuda wont move. Check your filter. It probably needs to be cleaned.

High salt level with a SWG

Several months ago I added too much salt and have had the salt level at 3900 PPM. I've noticed my FC level unusually higher this year at 7.5 Is the efficiency of a SWG affected by the salt level?

Recent sediment at the bottom of pool

For the past three days sediment been collecting at the bottom of my pool. I vacuum to filter but the next evening it re-appears. Test results: PH 7.4 CL 3.0 CH 450 CYA 50 ALK 60 Salt 3900 Borate 50 Here are a few pics I'm not sure if this is relevent but I recently added a box of Borax and a...

Autopilot salt reading versus strip salt reading

You need to obtain a certified test solution. That's the only way to prove that an electronic meter or even salt strips are accurate. For example, if a meter reads 3200 for a certified solution that's 3000 PPM then just re-calibrate the meter or deduct 200 PPM when testing the pool water, then...
