Ok. I noticed a few very small spots on the bottom of the deep end of my pool that wouldn't come off. They are very small, probably less than penny size. I use no type of metal based algaecide etc. I couldn't figure out what had caused the problem...until I dove down to within an few inches...

I have a variable speed Pentair pump. If I'm understanding the literature correctly, the default setting is to run for 8 hours at high speed, and then run two 4 hour cycles at progressively lower speeds. However, my PB to me to set my timer on the breaker for 12 hours a day. Is this enough...

I just bought some of the $2.50/gallon 10% chlorinating liquid from Wal Mart. How fast does this stuff lose strength? The date of manufacture on the ones I bought is February and March 2016, but the rest were in December 2015 so I was scared to buy.
