Question about skimmer protection for freezing weather (yes, another SE Texas question)

Used my cinderblocks to weigh down some of the tarps on the pool equipment and the landscaping. Guess I need more! :)

Question about skimmer protection for freezing weather (yes, another SE Texas question)

No RV/marine antifreeze to be found either. Used 70% isopropyl alcohol instead, since that also has a pretty low freezing point. Weighed the bottle down with a rock because otherwise it was still floating and popping up the skimmer cover. So have 1/3-1/2 the bottle available to "accept" any...

Question about skimmer protection for freezing weather (yes, another SE Texas question)

I think I'll leave the water level normal to provide that extra insulation for the skimmer pipe. No Gizmos to be found locally, though my understanding is that I'd only use that if I blew out the pipes, which I'm not going to do. So I'll toss in a plastic bottle instead. Was going to weigh it...

Question about skimmer protection for freezing weather (yes, another SE Texas question)

First, I want to thank everyone who has responded to the slew of existing posts and questions about options for protecting equipment for this 5-day hard freeze in SE Texas. I learned a lot and made the decision to just drain my surface equipment and tarp it. But I have three remaining...

any difference between Drain King brands?

Well, it didn't quite work out the way I expected...but it worked. I went with the Home Depot version. Turned it on and off for several different durations, and wasn't seeing much of anything come out. Then I tried the tennis ball trick on the suction line entrance several times, and still...

any difference between Drain King brands?

kadavis - Thanks. Patrick - I'm really not sure. The neighbor's trees drop a lot of debris (leaves, etc.) in my pool this time of year...but that's every year, and I haven't seen anything that looks visually different. This is my first ever problem in 18 years with the suction line.

any difference between Drain King brands?

Via some trial-and-error and reading the forums, I've determined that I likely have clog in the suction line for my pool vac. I see that using a Drain King and water hose at the pump side is the common first effort to clear it. Is there any difference among the various Drain King brands? It...

Baracuda G3 diaphragm replacement - quality, vendor...

After 4 years with no problems, my Baracuda G3 stopped moving. I pulled the diaphragm out, and sure enough it has a couple small tears. My question is, how do I compare the quality of the various replacements, and what's the best source? Leslie's wants $47 for what I assume is a...

    Auto-vacuum use during SLAM?

Early last summer, after my pool was already up and running, I decided to switch from DE media to cellulose fiber media, mostly out of curiosity. I had done my research, and understood that I couldn't use most of the additives (algaecide, etc.) since their intended binding effect could cause a...
