    Acid Washing

Thanks for your suggestion. The PH was definitely due to out-of-control CYA (the pool store had me adding a pound of tri-clor a day to an 8000 gal pool). It was finding this site that got me back in control of all my numbers. I had to pump 50% of the pool to reduce CYA to acceptable range...

    Acid Washing

Hi Everyone! I have a 2 yo IG pool with a Diamond Brite finish, which is plaster impregnated with solid pigments (quartz I think). When installed you are given instructions to "scrub scrub scrub" to reveal the quartz pigments. I didn't really know what I was doing and didn't scrub enough...

    BBB I love you!

Thanks! Pool School is just great! BTW...just this morning, finally starting to see some PH drift.... Thanks to Pool School...I knew to keep an eye out for it. This week may be my week to adjust TA down to the correct levels.

    BBB I love you!

I just can't believe how beautiful my pool looks after two weeks of BBB. I drained 40% of my pool to drop CYA down to 45. Now I just add a full jug of clorox (from Costco) every night at 7:00 pm. I test every morning and everything is perfect. My pool is stable, beautiful, crystal clear. My...

    So glad I found you!

CYA is the big issue I have to deal with right now--so that's a great tip. I'll have to decide if I can make it through the year or do a major dilution. Those darn pool stores kept telling me to add pounds and pounds of tri chlor every week to an 8000 gal pool....and now I've got quite a build...

Scott...that is brilliant! Obvious, once you think about it, but most people wouldn't think about it. I'm printing those diretions, laminating them and placing them in the little blue box. Thanks! Sue

    So glad I found you!

Thank you!! I am a do-do. I reversed the columns in the pool calculator...so I see the mistake. Yep...tonight I will get a bunch of chlorine in there. I do have a Taylor 2005 that I've been using. I ordered the 2006, should be here next week. I read up on the UV issue yesterday on this...

    So glad I found you!

I'm one of those stupid women who walked out of the pool store last week confused with boat loads of chemicals...even though I already knew better. So I'm starting fresh here...I love testing, always have. My pool is 1 year old, was installed last year. Here's the scoop: Highlands Ranch...
