Do I need to cove the corners of my old pool?

Hi all, I have an old pool with straight edges and corners throughout. I've been told that I should have the bottom of the pool coved (meaning to round the edges). Newer pools have coved bottoms that apparently keep automatic cleaners from getting stuck and dirt from getting stuck in corners...

Need help bringing an old pool back to life

The last week was spent battling myself on whether to keep it simple and cheaper with a 2-speed/small VS pump and timer or go big and get the EasyTouch with 2-speed/Intelliflo. I decided that for the price difference, which turned out to be around $200, it was worth getting the EasyTouch. The...

To automate my pool or not?

Many thanks guys. Your input has been VERY helpful. That's some great info Jason! What I'll do when it comes time to fill the pool is refer back to the forum. If I could reduce or eliminate the need for acid it would be fantastic. I have a neighbor who adds 1-4 cups a week, he claims "Mother...

To automate my pool or not?

I could control the LED lights (NextStep Savi or IntelliBrite) for the moment. Otherwise, there really isn't much more use unless I add an actuator for the waterfeature. I was considering getting the IntellipH whether or not I get the EasyTouch, that would allow me to control the chlorine level...

To automate my pool or not?

Thanks for the quick reply Jason and Richard! I'm definitely on the same page with you guys that simple is better. No question! I do like the fact that the 2-speed pumps don't have the issues VS pumps have with lightning strikes. Looking at the price difference I have to wonder if the...

To automate my pool or not?

Hi guys, I'm currently remodeling my pool and have a pretty lengthy thread you can find here: http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/77859-Need-help-bringing-an-old-pool-back-to-life. I decided to start a new thread because I'm at a crossroad with my pool equipment and I need to decide by this...

Thanks for the reply MBG! Glad it's worked well. How long have you had the Pro-logic control system and the SWG (I'm assuming goldline) working?

Need help bringing an old pool back to life

Unfortunately this weekend was not very productive when it came to pool work. Some pool items didn't arrive on time so I decided to work on other things around the house, hopefully this week/weekend I'll be able to focus 100% of my attention on the pool. Well this brings me to another question...

Need help bringing an old pool back to life

Forgot to post some photos of the pipe delivery the other day! Not much to show but I figured it was time for some eye candy... 2" BOE Schedule 40 in 20' lengths PVC elbow galore!

Need help bringing an old pool back to life

That's good to know! I'll look more into it as I had planned to use a side port for the incoming flow on the waste/bypass, I would want that middle port port closed most of the time but prevent the port from pump to be blocked. I'll research that or just wait to receive the valve's later today...

Need help bringing an old pool back to life

I think I'll just end up getting the Jandy 3-Port valve. I just rather spend an extra $40 on a valve and avoid replumbing in the future. Another reason is if I'm not in town, I'd like to make it as easy as possible for family members to operate the system. Do you guys know if you can play with...

Because I always gravitate toward a challenge, I'm building my own wooden AGP...

Very nice! Everything about this is great! Well, except for the fact that this project is in NE Ohio and you guys just took back LeBron James from us South Floridians! There goes my own plan to float around my pool while watching monster dunks. Oh well, at least it was a fun four years...

Need help bringing an old pool back to life

If the ball valves are a better choice I'd go with them but the Jandy 3-port valves seem like a much better choice. Am I correct? I definitely do not want to sacrifice convenience and quality over money. I'm saving a lot by doing this part myself so the money I'm saving can go towards better...

Need help bringing an old pool back to life

Good catch sargent! Like Jason mentioned, I do plan on adding either a CC 200 or CCP 320 cartridge filter (still debating with myself which to go with). I've revised the diagram again. Let me know if anything can be improved. Jason, I spoke to a good friend that owns a pool about 7 minutes from...
