    Cloudy Water

It took me a while to get my pump running this summer, and I ended up with algae in the pool. It looks like the green algae is gone, but I can still tell my water is cloudy and I'm losing chlorine quite a bit faster than usual, so I think there is likely still some in there, eating up the...

Connecting 2 corrugated filter hoses with barbed insert x insert coupling

Thanks again for your suggestion. By using the boiling water trick, I was able to get the hoses all the way on the barbed connector! I secured a hose clamp on either side, and started the pump back up. However, there is still a slight leak at the connection. Is there something else I can utilize...

Connecting 2 corrugated filter hoses with barbed insert x insert coupling

Thank you! I'll try the boiling water trick. Once I have them all the way on, will the hose clamps be sufficient to hold them together without leaks? Or do you suggest using any type of sealant in addition to the clamps?

Anyone have these wedding cake steps?

I have them, and do not like them. As others mentioned, they are difficult to clean around, tend to grow algae, and require about 150lbs of sand or some other weight to keep them down. Two years ago, one of my sand bags broke in the middle of the season, causing sand to spread across the bottom...

    Dog chewing

I'm not sure how helpful this would be, but I used to have a dog who loved to chew my hoses as well. Putting the hoses behind this fencing seemed to help. Just a suggestion!

Connecting 2 corrugated filter hoses with barbed insert x insert coupling

Hi, I'm looking for advice on how to connect two corrugated filter hoses together to make a hose long enough to connect my skimmer to my pump. The previous owner used a barbed insert x insert coupling (attached image) to connect the two old hoses (attached image) I need to replace. I've tried...

How long to wait between ph tests when adding borax

Thanks for the help! Yes, my understanding is that the pH test tends to read low when the FC is over 10, so we suspect it may be even lower than 6.8. So it definitely is what we're trying to fix first. We also know the CYA is really high and will need to come down, but refilling the pool is...

How long to wait between ph tests when adding borax

Thanks, all! FC = 22 CC = 1 TC = 23 pH = 6.8 TA = 100 CYA = 100+ CH = 320 Using the tablet chlorine, so that is why CYA is so high and pH is so low...

How long to wait between ph tests when adding borax

Hello. First, let me thank this forum for helping me successfully manage my first summer of pool ownership. I have learned so much through reading the Pool School and hundreds of posts that have been made on a wide variety of subjects! I am attempting to help a friend SLAM her pool to get rid...
