Thanks again for your suggestion. By using the boiling water trick, I was able to get the hoses all the way on the barbed connector! I secured a hose clamp on either side, and started the pump back up. However, there is still a slight leak at the connection. Is there something else I can utilize...

Thank you! I'll try the boiling water trick. Once I have them all the way on, will the hose clamps be sufficient to hold them together without leaks? Or do you suggest using any type of sealant in addition to the clamps?

I have them, and do not like them. As others mentioned, they are difficult to clean around, tend to grow algae, and require about 150lbs of sand or some other weight to keep them down. Two years ago, one of my sand bags broke in the middle of the season, causing sand to spread across the bottom...

I'm not sure how helpful this would be, but I used to have a dog who loved to chew my hoses as well. Putting the hoses behind this fencing seemed to help. Just a suggestion!
