A little different Intex SWG problem.

I've been fighting the low salt error on my Intex SWG. Common problem. It needed a little salt, so I added enough to bring it up to proper level, but the error persisted. I cleaned my already clean cells with the same result. I searched the internet for other possible solutions and found...

Sand inthe bottom of pool from hydrant fill - how to get it out

My pool is near the beach and gets sand blown in it every day, so I feel his pain! I put some quilt batting in on top of my filter basket. I also use an old sock filled with quilt batting that I attach to the return jet. This helps trap quite a bit, just keep the batting washed out.

    testing a used pump

Thanks for the replies! I set the pump up on a table, connected the hoses, stuck the ends in the pool, primed the pump and it worked! I guess I should've explained a bit more. We have a ProSeries 14x42 pool with the built in skimmer pump. It doesn't have a timer on it (see my previous post from...

    testing a used pump

My neighbor gave me an Intex pump with a timer and I would like to replace my ProSeries pump without a timer. I'd have to make some modifications, in order to do that, so I'd like to make sure it works first. Is there any way I can test it?

    Timer Issues

I've heard that about them! ;) It must just be the "new" ones, since the GFCI plug on the pump I had originally, didn't. I may have found a solution. My neighbor gave me a pump from his old Intex pool. It's a little bigger pump, with a timer. He says it works, but is there any way I can test...

    Timer Issues

I might have to consider that. I was also thinking about changing out the plug. I'll tackle most any DIY project, but I don't have much electrical experience. Thanks!

    Timer Issues

Yes, the "on" is the red reset button, to turn it off, I have to push the white test button. I don't know why the old plug worked on the timer, since it was basically the same type of plug. But, since that's the part that broke, maybe it was defective in the first place.

    Timer Issues

Most of the "crud" is fine sand, blown in by the wind. The filter (pleated filter that comes with the pump/pool) doesn't seem to do that great of a job catching it. ;)

    Timer Issues

We bought a ProSeries 14x42 back in July. The plug for the pump is a GFCI plug and the pump is turned on by pressing the red reset button. I was able to set it up on a timer with no problems, it came on by itself at dusk and went off after running the set amount of hours. In September, the...

First time poster, first time pool owner, with questions

I've read through most of the information in Pool School, some of it multiple times, and I want to see if I've got this right. I've never owned anything more than a kiddie pool, so a lot of this information is Greek to me. We're starting small, with a ProSeries 14x42. I'm in the process of...
