    Where is my chlorine going?

We went to the pool store to have the water checked, I know better than to use that stuff, I only get DE and sometimes CYA from there. :) I also understand that Chlorine is a consumable and what are typical (sun/growth) consumers. What I can't figure out is what is consuming it. I was not...

    Where is my chlorine going?

So my salt strips are out of date and I don't trust them. Pool store test showed the rain we got the other day had a major impact on salt levels, or the test I did and a different pool store did were off. So we added another 120lbs of salt Wednesday and let it run in "boost" overnight, Thursday...

    Where is my chlorine going?

We opened our pool a few weeks ago here in Massachusetts. Since we closed late and opened early we only had some silt/leaves/dirt to pull out and the water got to clear in a few days. Salt was low (needed 90lbs), TA was high (120), CYA was low (40), and PH was a little high (7.8) CH I don't...

Stinging eyes, already read all the threads on the subject...

Interesting, my kids swap on and off the goggles constantly, they don't do a lot without them, I wonder if trapping the water inside makes it worse :) Rich

They probably went right in after the cover was removed...and were probably in there for a few hours, I'll suggest waiting a bit. I had read another thread about sunscreen or sweat potentially being the culprit, but the second time it happened they didn't put on sunscreen before swimming.

Hi Kim, thanks for trying to help :) That thread the "solution" suggested was to put salt in the water, we already have that :) Maybe you meant to link to another thread, that one doesn't really mention keeping the PH at anything apart from 7.5 :) Rich

My wife and kids complained yesterday that their eyes are stinging... the recent change are the pool store finally got our solar cover in stock and we have been using it, and we have been at a salt level of (according to the strips) 1970 (the autopilot in the start of the season asked for 68lbs...

New Pool, new methods, waiting for fix....

I looked closer, it is sandy material, finally the dolphin swam for it's 3 hour cycle without letting me know to change the filter before it was done. I added bleach, I'll do some testing in the morning (should have raised the FC levels to 6-7 from the 0 I measured just before adding). The...

New Pool, new methods, waiting for fix....

The video about CH testing does not go into the fading endpoint, and the volumes and number of drops is different than the current instructions :) But seeing it in action might be nice. This morning's numbers: PH 7.8 CH < 75 (added 3 drops before this time....) TA 60 FC .5 CC .5 TC 1 (?) CYA...

New Pool, new methods, waiting for fix....

AHA! So turning purple THEN blue is bad and indicates some sort of metal in the water, the pool company added a bunch of stuff when they opened the pool for me (part of the package...) they must have added something with Metals in it, Algaecide or some such, which would explain why the CH test...

New Pool, new methods, waiting for fix....

What the ****! So the last few days when I wasn't in Boston I ran the waste output while sucking out the sand 3x (until the bottom of the skimmer), the hose can't keep up so hours went into dumping "clean" water into the pool, here's my numbers: TC: 0 PH: 7.1 CH: 725! TA: 20 The PH and TA...

How do I move dropped off 500 pound pool to my backyard

We moved a heavy shed (~12x16(?) ) across the yard using some 4" pipes, jacked up the shed, put in the pipes and rolled it, when one pipe would fall out, you put it in the front. It worked way better than I thought it would. 500lbs should be way less than that, but if you have some 2-3" pipes...

New Pool, new methods, waiting for fix....

I just sucked out as much gunk as I could, when the water line dropped under the skimmer I lost suction so I'm waiting for the Hose to do it's job.... It is daunting to have to empty so much water.... Once I can turn the pump on again I'll try to suck out most of the dirt on the shallow end...

New Pool, new methods, waiting for fix....

I just tested my house water, it reads as CH=50, I also read the SWG's manual and the range is CH=400 and below. I could not get to the store today, so I'll be running there in the morning to get Borax and Baking Soda, I want to get the PH in the right direction at least, and then I'll just...

New Pool, new methods, waiting for fix....

So we installed our new pool at the end of last season, I just did my very first testing with my T100 kit. The water is clear, I can see the leaves I have to pull from the bottom, but while I do that I'd like to get to getting the water right, assuming I did my testing right. Some details, the...
