Sand in pool at start up

After removing the sand and the laterals I found that when the assembly was put together at the factory they stripped out one of the screws. I shot a photo of the stripped out screw and will see if Hayward will warranty it.

Sand in pool at start up

Hello all, I replaced my filter with a Hayward S244T top mount sand filter, the bearings went out on the Hayward Super Pump for the third time so I replaced the pump with a Pentair 1hp "direct replacement pump" The Pentair seems to be a much better pump and the motor is beefier than the Smith...

Need help with Baker sand filter

I had the cover off about 2 weeks ago, it was put back together using super lube on the mating surfaces and O ring. Since I broke the fins off, I am trying to add some grip points by attaching 2 aluminum squares to the top using epoxy. The epoxy is still setting up so I don’t know how...

Need help with Baker sand filter

Are there any tips on how to get the dome lid off the top of a old Baker sand filter? The cover appears to be a synthetic material of some type with 4 fins on top. I just broke the fins off trying to get into the filter. I need to replace the lower outlet gasket. If times were better I'd...

    UPDATE: Plumbing Leak...or not...

If the pool level is dropping, even a little, won't you refill it with fresh water? so won't the chemical levels will change with the new water added?

    UPDATE: Plumbing Leak...or not...

Re: UPDATE: Plumbing Leak - multivalve eliminated as source I think I would run the bucket test again. I would not rule out evaporation; when humidity is down and the sun is hot I can loose a lot of water in a day, maybe not an inch but close. I had a leak in my vinyl liner, they were able to...

    UPDATE: Plumbing Leak...or not...

Re: Leak - possibly spider gasket... This is one time to go to Leslie's, take the valve top into the store and they will put the new spring on for you. I don't remember what the spring costs but it couldn't have been too high or I would have remembered.

How to control heavy leaf load? PoolSkim?

With the heat and wind, leaves are falling off the trees like it's fall; the skimmer basket filled up twice today causing the pump to starve for water. The poolskim was delivered late today. I only had it running for a couple of hours but so far it works great. :whoot: Thanks for the...

Current readings, what to do next?

If it would be easier, i will delete this thread and add it to the one regarding shocking and algae control; to keep everything in the same place Mike

Current readings, what to do next?

I am using the test kit from Dave at TFTestkit, what is that called the T-100? I used up the last of Cal Hypo to start shocking then switched to bleach. Shocked for 28 days at 13+ (with CYA between 25-30) dropped off the shocking last week. I think the cloudy water is from pollen and...

Current readings, what to do next?

This mornings test results are: FC 6-1/2 CC 1/2 TC 7-1/2 PH darker than 7.5 but not as dark as 7.8---so 7.6/7.7 ish TA 100 CH 400 CYA 30 This is a 20 x 40 vinyl with a deep end, sand filter. The pool is still clearing, can see the bottom but the water is still a little cloudy in the deep end...

    Clairfier

LOL, When I just started the shock process and had green in the water I used the Leslie's product I think it's called Ultra Bright. It foamed like crazy, and in the morning i had mats of foam with pollen and algae on top. I did try the AquaChem product, no foaming but not noticeable clearing...
