    overflow drain pipe ?

Anywhere. Not much info to work with but other pipe could be abandoned pool pipe, deck drains, ground water drain, who-knows-what not related to pool... If it just started with all the rain I would guess it to be ground water related and would not be too concerned unless the water level in the...

Spa Drains When Freeze Protection Puts System in Spa Mode

You are not looking at it wrong, that is exactly what I am saying. I believe you may be pulling the water from the spa and returning to pool and spa, then pulling from pool and returning to spa only. Thus causing your spa to drain to the pool when in spa mode and re-fill the spa from the pool in...

Thanks Matt. I have not read the guidelines but certainly will. Not sure how an international(?) site could generate business for a local company, but that's not my goal. No soap boxes here!

    Liner floating

That is exactly right. We have had liners floating all week from ground water. Most liner pools, believe it or not, are not water-tight behind the liner and ground water can and will seep in behind it. If the liner is not damaged they should be able to re-install it in the spring. Resetting a...

Your pond pump will do. Leaves can stain surface, may lead to acid wash at start-up. Use of stain remover may help avoid this. Watch out for acorns and such, they stain BAD.

    Hot tub pump repair...how much?

The bearing that are making the noise are in the electric motor and have been damaged by corrosive water leaking from a faulty shaft seal onto the bearings. I do not recommend that you rebuild the motor yourself, the pump (wet-end) is quite simple and should be no trouble.

Bleach cult? I use Vertex, not Clorox, but its all bleach. Perhaps they don't like you teaching their customers how to not need them anymore. A good pool company can only gain from knowledgeable customers, its those other guys that need uninformed customers to stay working. Of course, there are...

    Hot tub pump repair...how much?

Most "pros" will not rebuild your pump motor due to warranty issues and low replacement parts costs. You can generally find electric motor rebuilders who will do the work, also without a warranty in most cases. I would recommend pricing replacement motors and rebuild the pump (seal, gaskets)...

Spa Drains When Freeze Protection Puts System in Spa Mode

So... The spa drains in spa mode and fills in pool mode? Are you CERTAIN that the actuators are functioning as installed? Each actuator has a switch (often hard to find) that switches the "polarity" of the actuator. It sounds as though your pump is pulling from the spa and returning to both as...
