    Problems with Pentair Legend Platinum

Hi Lazy, Used to have that cleaner. And yes, my backup valve didn't work well from the get go, the hose would occasionally get caught in the wheels and the Pebbletec eventually wore a nasty hole in the body of the backup valve (tried to repair using superglue a few times... it would simply...

We won a new Pentair Racer cleaner... one week after buying a Polaris 280

Sorry, I have been away and just saw your post. I wasn't intending to sell it via TFP (I didn't think it was allowed or appropriate in this discussion area). I am located near Houston TX which based on the size of the box would make it seem that shipping charges would make it difficult (and...

We won a new Pentair Racer cleaner... one week after buying a Polaris 280

Our local pool supply dealer had a contest involving keys to a treasure chest. Since we had been doing some major purchases the past week including a new Polaris booster pump and the 280, we received a number of keys to try. And as luck would have it, we won the top prize (the Racer)...

    Polaris Booster Pump QuickConnectors redesign

Here's two actual pictures... the first from far away so you can see the four connections and hose: And a closeup of one of the connectors... probably 1/8" to 1/4" away from having enough room to slip the red locking spacer in place.

    Polaris Booster Pump QuickConnectors redesign

Here's a picture from the web: If you'd like to see what it looks like installed on my system I can take a picture later today and post. I don't know what the redesign looks like.

    Polaris Booster Pump QuickConnectors redesign

I will give it a shot. btw, when I contacted my local dealer(where I purchased the booster pump and cleaner) to buy a set they hadn't heard of the new design... and since they had just received a shipment of the old hose and connectors they guessed their distributor was getting rid of all the old.

    Polaris Booster Pump QuickConnectors redesign

I contacted Polaris (Zodiac Pools) complaining about the QuickConnectors and the difficulty I had getting them to work. They emailed me back with this news: So good news. it would have been even better news if the new connectors were offered up as free replacements. Maybe my pool dealer...

New Polaris 280 running, but Backup valve seems "super-charged"

Hi. Successfully replaced my old Pentair booster pump with a new Polaris booster pump and also replaced an old Pentair Legend Platinum with a Polaris 280. My pool is relatively small (15x30 and 6'-2" deep at deep end) in a lima bean shape. I ended up removing a bunch of leader hose (to end up...

Polaris P19 Quick Disconnect = Not so fast to install

Answering my own question based on a call to a local Leslie's Pool supply... no, you can't simply swap out the Pentair or Hayward hose kits since the threaded part of the connector is different. I will try the "heating up the end" approach, and if that fails, hard plumb the darn thing...

Polaris P19 Quick Disconnect = Not so fast to install

^^ Would switching the hose kit to a different brand work? The hose kit from Pentair looks like it uses a different connector. And the one from Hayward looks like a hose with four automotive hose clamps. Hard plumbing will undoubtedly be cheaper, but the idea that you can pull off the pump...

Polaris P19 Quick Disconnect = Not so fast to install

Bringing this post thread back from the past. I just spent hours in the pouring rain, thunder, and lightning wrestling with the Polaris "Quick Connects". I was replacing a Pentair booster pump with a Polaris one... the old pump was hard-plumbed and when I was looking at the task in front of me...

Replacing booster pump - going from hard plumbed to flexible plumbed?

Update: Home Depot had all the parts needed (couplings and reducers that were threaded to accept the male threaded couplings that came with the booster pump. Good to go.

Replacing booster pump - going from hard plumbed to flexible plumbed?

Thanks Jason! The PVC pipe between the two elbos does measure to 2" outside diameter (the elbows were closer to 2 1/2" in outside diameter... but I should have measured the PVC pipe since that is where I will cut and will need to terminate to connect to the new soft hose. i will now go to the...

Replacing booster pump - going from hard plumbed to flexible plumbed?

I have a 7 year old pool, and the Pentair (AO Smith 3/4 HP motor I believe) LA01N booster pump. Pump (and thus the crawler) hasn't worked for over a year and the Pentair Legend cleaner was held together with duct tape so it was long since time to replace the cleaner with a Polaris 280 and...

New IC40 reads salt higher than pool store tests

Many thanks, both for the welcome and the response. I need to do a much better job taking care of the pool (its a 7 year old pool, so its time I learned to take better care of it!!). I will have all sorts of questions and appreciate all the advice and guidance!
