How long and when to run pump

I currently only have the skimmer as a water pickup point. (i.e., no main drain. The drain line developed a leak and we plugged it and I have never bothered finding the leak. For all practical purposes, we seem to be able to operate ok with it.) In that regard, pool builder guy said we need to...

What does "aerate to increase pH"

Ok, I understand now. I will construct something out of PVC.

Preferred source of Calcium chloride or calcium chloride dihydrate

I will have the same problem around here. It is a seasonal product. I may still have some left over fro winters past, as I didn't realize we were talking about ice melt.

What does "aerate to increase pH"

Just restested my water and pH is up from 7.6 to 7.7 and TA up from 100 to 130. . We have had 1.5 inches of rain overnight ( I estimate that to be about 240 gallons of rainfall added to my pool) Complete test: FC- 1.6 CC-0.4 pH- 7.7...

What does "aerate to increase pH"

i don't have anything like that. I'm pretty good at making stuff though. Not that Ive looked real close, but I don't recall the return jets lending themselves to having something attached to them.

What does "aerate to increase pH"

Re: What does "aerate to increase pH" I don't believe my returns moveable. What is a water feature? - - - Updated - - - 7.6 and has been for several days in a row

What does "aerate to increase pH"

I recently replaced about 40% of my water and new results show my TA is 100. According to PoolMath, I need to lower my TA by decreasing pH 7.0-7.2 with acid, and then aerate to increase pH. How do I "aerate"? Thanks

Preferred source of Calcium chloride or calcium chloride dihydrate

Last week I replaced about 40% of my water in order to reduce the CYA, which was up near 100. Checking my water yesterday revealed CH of 210, which is low. Is there a preference of liquid vs powder and is there a preference for calcium chloride vs calcium chloride dehydrate? Thanks

Does chlorine kill established black algae?

Ahhhh, The Law of Conservation of Mass: matter is neither created nor destroyed. I would have to drain 80% of my pool to get the stains exposed to air. I don't want to do that because of the fill time required. I didn't realize plaster was so sensitive to sunlight. Additionally, I think my...

    Judging the status of plaster

In the process of draining my water in order to get the CYA and CH to acceptable levels, I am comcerned about my plaster job, or the lack thereof. (See Will Chlorine Kill Black Alage thread in algae section for the whole tale) I have drained down enough to expose two feet of plaster (or what I...

Does chlorine kill established black algae?

I have drained out about 10,000 gallons and was considering a refill overnight. However, after draining, some of the stains on the steps (see pics in previous posts) were exposed by the low water level and were cleaned up instantly with lemon juice (the kid at pool store said to try that when I...
