Opinions on this AG pool cover?

Here's a good tip I actually got from the pool store  : Don't throw out the old cover; put the new one on first and then the old one on top so the old cover takes the abuse of winter. I have some rain/snow water that collects between them, but that doesn't seem to be a problem. I also...

First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it right

Re: First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it rig Thank you all for the counsel. Chemgeek: The only fertilizer I have is lawn "weed n feed"; will that work for my science experiment on growing mustard algae? Fast1971chevelle: YES! When I changed the direction of my inlet jet and...

First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it right

Re: First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it rig Thanks for the added insight. I do have trouble distinguishing between subtle shades of yellow and green and the blue background issue does complicate things. I got up to 49 (per pool calculator) for the mustard algae shock level due...

First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it right

Re: First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it rig I'm really puzzled. Ph 7.5 FC 44 CC .5 TC 44.5 TA 150 CYA 90 FC has dropped 3 over the past two days So the FC doesn't drop overnight, the water is clear, but I still have this green "stuff" accumulating after scrubbing and...

First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it right

Re: First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it rig I didn't quite understand your response: "It is yellow angae ... but what you have." Does that mean I have it? Mine is green and just disperses like dust except for the bigger blobs need scrubbed off. I upped my chlorine to 44. When...

First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it right

Re: First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it rig Two things: 1. What the heck is this "mustard algae" that has it's own listing and how would I identify it? 2. At what Ch level is it safe to go into the pool and swim? Or just go in to feel the green stuff? One more thing-- So do I...

First trouble with algae -- not sure if I'm doing it right

Ph 7.5 FC 33 CC 0 TA 150 CYA 90 (I know it's an issue; will drain 50% at end of season) CH 260 Water is clear, but I have accumulations of green algae(?) in the same places every day even after shocking and vacuuming. Had FC at 24 for three days and just upped it to 33 yesterday. No...

    Solar cover disintegraging!

Thanks for the info about keeping it out of the sun. That makes sense. I bought a clear 16mil one locally. I have also heard about the "chemicals" causing decay of the bubbles. But what I don't get is: if a cover is soaking in pool water 8 to 12 hours at a time in somebody's pool with a...

    Need help with deck design

That's really cool! Wish I was tech savvy enough to draw that -- that's what I tried to verbally get across when I called them "cripple joists." Hope that's not offensive to anyone, but that's what my carpenter dad used to call them. Of course, he was from a much different era.

    Need help with deck design

Too bad about your back. For sure don't overdo it. Maybe hire a high school kid to dig the holes for $50 and use no mix concrete. Also, check out the post "Deck is finished..." to see the skeleton of the deck. I ran my deck boards flush with the top of the pool rail, not under like these. So...
