    High pH, low CYA, ammonia?

Long and difficult month of pool maintenance with no circulation and I have a dark green pool on my hands. Long story short I did rigid PVC plumbing, cracked the eyeball return fitting from torqueing to hard on the male pvc fitting, replaced that, found a big tear in my vinyl liner, patched it...

Need to add sand to filter?

Thanks for the link! Current pump is 115V. So I would use the low setting for normal filtration and circulation, and switch to high for vacuuming and backwashing, correct? Waterway's site shows the turnover through a 19" sand filter to be 16,000 gal in 6 hours at 45 GPM, but doesn't specify...

Need to add sand to filter?

I have a 19" Waterway sand filter, the kind that is spherical. The stand pipe is approximately 21" tall and the sand bed is 9" below the top of the stand pipe currently, so its filled just over half way with sand. Does anyone know how much sand should be in this filter? All of my research...

    Half deck 18 x 33 - how to cover

I have the same situation for my pool. I used a cable/winch around the pool, then spaced eye screws every several feet on the deck, through a grommet in the cover, and fed the cable through each eye. I also used cement filled 5 gallon buckets on the cover where the deck ends on each side to...

    when to replace liner?

Purchased my home last year with an above ground pool. The pool liner is very faded light blue. There was a mat underneath my wedding cake style steps last summer when we purchased and there was a pattern on the liner floor that is no longer visible anywhere else. There is also some wrinkling...

    Top Rail Replacement?

I have what appear to be the same plastic caps and they are cracking, falling off. Also bought my home with the pool. Any luck figuring out how to replace them?

FC Loss per day seems high

FC Loss per day seems high

I'll perform the overnight test tonight. I have no features that provide aeration other than swimming in it. I will try lowering the TA slightly and see what results. I do this by adding HCL, then aerating to bring pH back to normal range, correct?

FC Loss per day seems high

Latest test results (last evening) FC 6 CC 0 pH. 7.6 TA. 90 cya. 35 halfway between 30 and 40 lines Question is, everyday I am losing anywhere from 3-4ppm of FC and having to add 60-80 oz of 6% bleach in my relatively small 8300 Gal pool. My CC is always 0.5 or less so I don't think I...

    Pollen or Mustard Algae??

I'm unsure where it was located in the pool because I only noticed it on the brush when I was finished. I am unable to see it on the walls or bottom anywhere so I am pretty sure it was pollen and was filtered out. If I notice it again I will update. Thanks for the help.

    Pollen or Mustard Algae??

Last night we had a major storm here in eastern Pennsylvania. After cleaning the debris out of the pool, I adjusted the chlorine as usual with bleach and began brushing the walls and floor of the pool. When i finished I took the brush head off of the pole and upon doing so noticed something...

    Amazing Site!

This site has signle-handedly turned me from someone who hated owning a pool and everything that went with it, into a confident, happy pool owner. I can't say thank you enough to those who run and maintain this site. My wife and I closed on our home last July, and it came with our pool, pump...
