    Keeping FC levels post-SLAM

I am post-SLAM and very happy with the results. My question is, should I add Cl to bring it exactly to the recommended FC per the FC/CYA chart and leave it alone until the next evening, or should I try to keep it slightly above the recommended level, knowing that the next day it will drop from...

Is it okay to backwash while SLAMing?

Title says it all. I know it will bring my CYA down, but my CYA is high to start with. If I just keep track of my CYA and pH and maintain appropriate shock level FC, is it okay to backwash, rinse, and add well water while I'm doing a SLAM? I'm brushing and just want the "stuff" out of my sand...

First attempt at SLAM but not sure...

I'm still SLAMing (started Friday afternoon and now it's Sunday evening) and the FC continues to drop to as low as 12ppm when my shock goal is 31 ppm. I've added at least 36 gallons of bleach. Just keep going until I maintain 31 ppm? This is mind-boggling to me.

First attempt at SLAM but not sure...

Oh, just realized a possibly confusing point in my original post...question 4 was asking about pumping more water out of the pool, not about running my regular filter pump. That stays on 24/7.

Yes, I have brushed after each chlorine addition, and the pump runs 24/7. I backwashed prior to the SLAM. So if all else looks like I'm proceeding correctly, I'll just keep pouring in the bleach. Thanks!

First attempt at SLAM but not sure...

My first post, but I've been reading and reading and found so much helpful info on this forum. Thank you. I have a degree in chemistry, so I do understand the technical parts of pool chemistry, but since I've never put TFP/BBB into practice, this is new to me. I have to start by saying my...
