    Removing Rust and Other Stains

Hi. This forum is the greatest thing since the invention of the swimming pool. I've had great advice from here. We bought our home last year, which came with an old but structurally sound in-ground pool. It's age is showing, though. I'm posting to ask how I can remove rust stains and other marks...

I Hate My Pump and Filter

I got some advice from this post. No Suction - - - Updated - - - Ok, so that's what that is. I saw it and didn't know what to do with it. What's the purpose of a backwash filter?

I Hate My Pump and Filter

Hi. I have posted some pics here: My Pool - Google Photos Not sure what brand of filter it is. I don't see any label, except made in the U.S.A. I also don't see any of the controls on it you asked about. Hopefully the pictures will help. Thanks.

I Hate My Pump and Filter

I've been chasing my tail on this. About six weeks ago, I fired my pool guy. He did a mediocre job. All he did was skim the pool, shock it, and keep up the water and pH levels. He didn't do much, but looking back, I had zero pool issues. But I was confident I could do his job with less money and...

DE and Dirt Coming Out of Jets

So, I've created a couple threads here lately that folks have helped me get my pump issues resolved. That's great, but now that it's working, the dirt that the vacuum attached to the pump along with some DE is simply getting sucked up, sent through the system and pushed back out the jets. My...

Where Does The Water Go When The Pump Is Turned Off?

When I've turned off the pump and waited awhile before opening the filter tank, I find it is nearly empty. Does the water go: out the pressure side, back through the suction side, or both?

    No Suction

Thanks for asking. I cleaned my DE filter completely, and I took the advice provided in this thread. I replaced the old DE with new DE (though some got into the pool) and securely tightened my pump basket lid. The suction has returned, but I soon realized that my troubles are not quite over...

    No Suction

Ok. Looks like we're getting somewhere. I got the suction back and put the DE in the filter. The only thing is some of it got pumped into the pool. I hope that gets sucked back in and caught by the grids. We'll see. I also replaced the pressure gauge. It runs at about 12 PSI with the creepy...

Have You Seen This Pump Basket Lid?

Here is a picture of my Aqua Flo pump basket lid. It's old, like Mesozoic-era old. I'd like to replace the O-ring or the whole lid, but there aren't really any identifiers on it other than the mfg name. Does anyone recognize this model, maybe where I could get a replacement or a more modern...

With Cleaned Filter, Need Best Way To Start Back Up

I recently cleaned my filter and my skimmer and pump baskets. There is no water in the filter tank or pump lines. Should I fill the tank up with water by hose, do the same for the pump basket before I put on the lid, then turn on the pump to get the water moving again? Looking for the correct...

    No Suction

Great, maybe there's hope. Each grid is 24" long. There are eight of them. I really can't tell the difference between any of them or the holes in the tank that they go in. As for the impeller, I think it's fine. With the pump basket lid off, I started the pump and sprayed hose water into the...
