    Starting to lose hope....

Losing large amounts of FC during the day drove me insane but eventually I learned it is totally normal. The higher you raise your FC towards and above SLAM the more you will lose. I kept a log after I completed my SLAM to show how drastic a drop I had even with a "clean" pool *CYA 80 SLAM...

    What happened?

I feel your pain. A dead bird hidden in my skimmer resulted in a similar problem (link in my sig if you want to review). Cleaning my filter after I was mid SLAM was a big help in my situation. My oversized filter was where I found algae hiding when the pool itself was crystal clear I had a...

Is SLAM inevitable? (YES...it was...5 Days of stress complete now)

Kim, I love the core principles behind everything here at TFP (1) Accurate testing leads to good advice (2) Help others when you can If this FC log helps just 1 person when they have a SLAM that will make me happy You can even sticky this as a learning thread Everyone here has been kind...

Day 23 of SLAM, what gives?

Are you testing at the EXACT same spot of your pool every time? I experimented with different locations and confirmed my test results will differ because the pool is not a perfectly mixed container...there are high/low spots based on circulation

    Chlorine Drop Test Question

My FC is still recovering from a SLAM but I will take a picture when it is in "range" to show you the difference. Here is what you see at FC 38 CYA 80 (SLAM target is 31 so I was waaaay above) Dark red means lots of FC A normal pool should NOT look like this *edit* I added my "normal" FC for...

Is SLAM inevitable? (YES...it was...5 Days of stress complete now)

My pool had dropped to CYA of 40 after the winter I raised it up in 2 stages. First to 60 then again to 80. That was shortly before the dead bird and SLAM experience started. I am definitely going to keep my future CYA closer to 60 in the future. I will also ride high on FC in case anything...
