    Pool Math

Thanks, I see that now. I can use it just like the old Pool Math. It will recommend what I need to do and not just tell me what would happen. I could use it outside and not have to come inside and crank up laptop. So, let's say I added some bleach to get to 3 ppm like it told me to do. Then...

    Pool Math

Although the App will tell you the effect of adding certain amounts of chlorine or other chemicals to the pool it doesn't just tell me how much I need to get to say 4 ppm if I only have 2 ppm. Maybe I need to subscribe to get that information. I like the way the old Pool Math would take...

    Pool Math

Thank you. Pool Math is indispensable to me. That and all the support I have gotten here when I didn't know anything saved me. Moved in to this house Aug 2013 with 0 knowledge about pools. Somehow made it through the summer of 2014 and then looks like I found this website April 2015.

What Should I Pay For When I Open My Pool Up

I would do the chemicals yourself. Make sure you check your CYA and know how much chlorine/bleach to use.

shocking in-ground pool with swg and metal issues

Timb9, you have my sympathy. I wish, that I had a season as short as yours and glad I don't live in Florida. Anyway, I replied on another thread and you recently responded. From keeping the chlorine too low, I now have pink algae which is actually not algae but a bacteria. It is not...

Does FC increase more with lower pH

FC does not increase but kills bacteria faster with lower PH.

HELP - Ascorbic Acid Treatment - Stains came back

I've had much the same experience as everyone on here with the stains coming back over the years. I've tried something new this year and seems to be working. I'm using Polyquat 60 so I can keep the chlorine low or just high enough to kill bacteria. Also, using HTH metal and stain defense. So...

No drain acid wash - muriatic or ascorbic

I would put a half cup of ascorbic acid in if you think it is metal.

    Chlorinating Liquid

Believe it or not, later today, I saw Home Depot HDX 10% for $9 something.

    Chlorinating Liquid

Wal Mart Great Value bleach is now 6%. I had some bottles left from last year and they were 8.25%. When I looked at Clorox it also was 6%. Wal Mart has 10% chlorinating liquid for $3.64 and my local pool store has 12% for $4.60.

    Splotchy liner question

Thanks for your reply Swampwoman. The splotches appeared gradually. I use Muriatic mixed in water and then throw that in the pool. AA did not sit and if it had it would have turned the liner or made a splotch instantly. The liner looks like new where the splotches are as if I pored AA on that...

    Splotchy liner question

I've been treating for iron stains all summer and I am currently back at the point where stains had come back. I'm keeping PH at 7.1 and chlorine as low as possible. I'm now getting areas of the pool where the stain is lifting. Instead of the whole thing lifting gradually it is just specific...

New from South Jersey - Trying to Figure Out What Type of Pool to Get

Vinyl is a whole lot cheaper and isn't prone to algae due to smooth surface. It liner would need replacing after about 10 years or more but over all cost and maintenance are lower.
