Although the App will tell you the effect of adding certain amounts of chlorine or other chemicals to the pool it doesn't just tell me how much I need to get to say 4 ppm if I only have 2 ppm. Maybe I need to subscribe to get that information. I like the way the old Pool Math would take...

Thank you. Pool Math is indispensable to me. That and all the support I have gotten here when I didn't know anything saved me. Moved in to this house Aug 2013 with 0 knowledge about pools. Somehow made it through the summer of 2014 and then looks like I found this website April 2015.

Please don't ever get rid of the original pool math.

I would do the chemicals yourself. Make sure you check your CYA and know how much chlorine/bleach to use.

FC does not increase but kills bacteria faster with lower PH.

Believe it or not, later today, I saw Home Depot HDX 10% for $9 something.

Wal Mart Great Value bleach is now 6%. I had some bottles left from last year and they were 8.25%. When I looked at Clorox it also was 6%. Wal Mart has 10% chlorinating liquid for $3.64 and my local pool store has 12% for $4.60.

Thanks for your reply Swampwoman. The splotches appeared gradually. I use Muriatic mixed in water and then throw that in the pool. AA did not sit and if it had it would have turned the liner or made a splotch instantly. The liner looks like new where the splotches are as if I pored AA on that...

Vinyl is a whole lot cheaper and isn't prone to algae due to smooth surface. It liner would need replacing after about 10 years or more but over all cost and maintenance are lower.
