What is the best way to get DE out of the pool with just a push/pull valve?

I have a lot of DE on the bottom of my pool as a result of a cracked manifold, some torn and broken grids and possibly worn push/pull backwash valve stem seals. The backwash handle was really hard to move so I took it apart and cleaned it and replaced the seals. When I tore apart the filter to...

Can’t install new air relief valve on DE filter to discharge water in right direction

When I re-installed the air relief valve without the extra 1/2 or 3/4 turn, the o-ring was not making contact with the filter and it was not a snug fit. So I removed the teflon tape and started over. This time I applied a lot more teflon tape (about 8 wraps I think) and lubed the teflon wrapped...

Can’t install new air relief valve on DE filter to discharge water in right direction

Hi Pat, thanks for the reply. You nailed it exactly on the "extra 1/2 or 3/4 turn"! The 1/2 turn had it facing me and the 3/4 turn had it facing the heater. Can’t install new air relief valve on DE filter to discharge water in right direction

I’m replacing the air relief valve and pressure gauge assembly on the top of my DE filter and I can’t seem to position the valve so that it’s facing the same direction as it was before. After I took out the old valve and cleaned the filter threads, I screwed in the new valve without the teflon...

Spa return jets very weak after installing new heater

The flow rate is much lower and there are no bubbles. I'm going to backwash the filter this weekend. It was a little over 20 psi before the heater was installed and now it's a little over 25 psi. I don't believe there's any bypass with an automatic valve. The outlet from the filter goes to...

Spa return jets very weak after installing new heater

My old heater stopped working right about three years ago. It wasn’t worth repairing and I couldn’t afford a new one at the time. So after three years, I finally got a new heater. The first time I used the spa and heater it was great, I had forgotten how nice a heated spa was. I only use the...
