Help with filter replacement for newbie

The pressure usually sits at 8-9 and we clean when it reaches 12-15. For a while we were cleaning weekly until I ordered a new filter and now it lasts much longer. We are in Texas. I'm leaning towards another cartridge but going a little bigger.

Help with filter replacement for newbie

We usually clean the filter every couple months but its really not hard to do. The repair man came and suggested we up it to a bigger filter that I believe he said would be 4 cartridges and we would only have to clean once or twice a year. He also said we could switch to DE if we wanted but...

Help with filter replacement for newbie

Our filter cracked open over the weekend and we have to replace. I remember when we bought the house the "pool guy" said it wasn't big enough for our pool and we should switch to sand. After discovering this sight I realized he wasn't doing his job properly and ya'll suggested that the filter...

New to my pool and came home to algae

New dilemma. I was scrubbing on that black rock and accidentally chipped off a thin layer of rock. It revealed more green algae so I went ahead and chipped off the entire layer of rock all of which revealed more algae. I have many rocks with this same flaky layer. I got what I could on many of...

New to my pool and came home to algae

Why do you think the FC loss was so high last night compared to the last few night of 3-5 loss? Is it because we scrubbed these rock/black areas last night and broke up the film?

New to my pool and came home to algae

I think Black Algae is my culprit! I have been questioning whether a black area on our rock steps is part of the rock coloration or stain but after looking through the pics during our partial drain I think I'm convinced it is black algae. Some has definitely cleared up since starting the slam...

New to my pool and came home to algae

I think the oil is from a persimmon tree that was hanging over the pool. We cut it back yesterday. When I cleaned out the polaris this morning I noticed some of the fruit casings in the bag so I went and crushed one that was on the ground and it has the exact same oily texture. Thoughts?

New to my pool and came home to algae

I passed the overnight test and my CC is 0 :) but the water is still cloudy. What do I do now? FC - 28 CC - 0 Ph - 7.8 TA - 160 CYA - 60 CH - 500? (I think this reagent might be bad. I only see a tint of color) I also noticed last night there seems to be a soft, oily film on the surface. Do...

Yay! My test kit came today! Thanks for the super quick delivery TFTestkits! :whoot: I added chlorine at 8:30am and just did my test at 3:30pm. My results were: FC - 33 CC - 0 CH - 0? (Sample never turned red when I added the hardness indicator) Ph - 7.5 CYA - 60 TA - 0? (I did this twice with...
