    What is a Cabana For?

I posted about our cabana a few years back for this very reason. I had questions and looked for pictures/ideas before we started, but couldn't find much. Here is the thread... http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/44202-Pool-cabana-finally-complete

New, proud owner of neglected 50 year old gunite pool

I will chime in about the auto cover. We had one installed with our pool 4 years ago. I love it. I've never had a pool before this one, but I've heard lots of horror stories about maintaining a pool. I've never had any trouble and I attribute most of that to the cover (and this website). It...

The following is taken from the Loop-Loc cover care and maintenance guide: "IMPORTANT HOMEOWNER SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Swimming pool cover technical note for painted aluminum & plastic concrete receptor coping. If LOOP-LOC water levels, tensioning requirements and padding recommendations are...

Is there a need to SLAM each season when opening?

I opened the pool last weekend and had quite a few worms, but the water was still clear and no signs of algae. I cleaned out all the worms, sucked out all the dirt to waste, pH was fine, brought the FC level up, added some salt, got the SWG going and then ran the pump for a couple days...

Salt water pool - effect on concrete surround

I'm in WV and we have plenty of freezing weather. I'm going on 3 years with a SWG and at least 10 feet of concrete on all sides of my pool. It's still rather new, but no concrete issues yet. As I said earlier, my only issue is the salt calcifying on the railings where they go into the anchors...

Salt water pool - effect on concrete surround

I don't think salt alone damages concrete. What typically happens, especially in northern locales where salt is used to melt snow and ice is that it increases freeze/thaw cycles as the temperatures fluctuate. That's why roads, driveways, sidewalks, etc.. are damaged from using salt. Throwing...

Dilemma - need advice on what to do with this algae

Just to give a quick update, I did go ahead and go through the shock process to clear up the pool. It wasn't too bad, so it only took a few days. In the meantime, I got the new $3 voltage limiter and soldered it into the circuit board on the SWG panel and it was up and running again. I ran it...

Dilemma - need advice on what to do with this algae

I have an AquaRite SWG and I've never had any problems until now. I had to go to Ireland this past week and while away, my wife calls and mentions that she and the kids would like to swim, but the water seems cloudy. Getting service error on the heater also. I haven't cleaned the filter...

    Pool cabana finally complete...

Very simple: 10/12 pitch on front and back, 12/12 pitch on the sides (so it didn't end up like a pyramid), 2 foot over hang on sides and back, 4 foot over hang on front.

    Pool cabana finally complete...

Didn't buy any plans. We just sketched it out and the framers roughed it. It's really just a 18'x22' box. Then my wife and I planned and completed the interior.

    Pool cabana finally complete...

Nothing special needed for our bathroom. The sewer line from the house runs right under it, so we had them put the drains in place at the same time. They've been capped off for a year until we finished it. For winterizing, I installed a blow-out valve inside my house right beside the shutoff...

    Pool cabana finally complete...

Thanks for the kind comments. We debated on adding a shower and then an outdoor shower just for rinsing, but ultimately decided against it. The kids would never take time to shower off before getting in  , so we dropped that idea. The fridge is a little small, but it's mainly just for...
