Just refilled my pool and took first readings...

Good to know as I would've been adjusting it tonight. Think I'll wait and see what happens first.

Dave, thanks for the reply. I added everything last night just like the calculator suggested. Although it seems I bought enough stabilizer to get me to 33ppm instead 40. I do have some trichlor pucks I guess I could keep using until it gets to 40, correct? Here are this mornings readings...

Actually, I just picked it up at the local walmart. Didn't see it at first...it was hiding! The 150 CH came from the faucet.

    Great Value Bleach vs Clorox

I just bought clorox on sale at walmart @ $7.27 for a three pack of 1.42 gal containers. Cheaper than the walmart brand I've been buying.

Just refilled my pool and took first readings...

Well, my CH and CYA were waaay high and the pool calculator said to drain 66% of the pool and refill. So I drained the whole thing (I'm all about a complete fresh start) and did a light acid wash on the plaster. Got it filled up last night, cleaned the filter and put "Fred" back in to pick up...

Finally used my new test kit and have a couple questions

Ok, I've decided to drain my pool tonight. I need to know if there is anything I should do while it's empty or any precautions I should take. My plans are to pressure wash the walls to remove the remaining algae, then refill. Are there any other steps I should take? I know this is last minute so...

Quick help on my Hayward please

Hello, I'm draining my pool tonight due to very high CH and CYA readings and I need to know something. I have a vertical "pro" grid DE filter that, when clean, the individual compartments hold 6-8" of water, even after I've washed them. I'd read something about soaking them in a solution to...

Finally used my new test kit and have a couple questions

Ok, I re-tested the CYA & CH tonight. Here are my results... CYA using 1/2 pool water and 1/2 tap water: 75 CH using tap water only was 140 and using filtered water from the fridge was 130. I am out of bottled water so these will have to do for now. Please let me know what you think...

Finally used my new test kit and have a couple questions

Melt In The Sun, Thanks for the reply. I would prefer not to acid wash my plaster as it appears to be in need of replacement in the next year or two, so I don't want to hurry the inevitable. I planned to to drain just over half, which would give me access to the majority of the problem...

Finally used my new test kit and have a couple questions

First, I'd like to say this forum has been awesome! I've learned a lot since I started lurking around, and even bought a TF100 test kit! I have been putting this off for some time now as I've always thought pool maintenance would be very difficult. Fortunately, the tests were pretty...
