Last year I filled from the well (16x48 seasonal) through the softener, water turned brown after chlorinating, came clear after a few days pulling the water through polyfill-stuffed socks in the basket. This weekend, I'm filling pre-softener for season 2- we shall see what difference it makes...

Swim diapers don't do much; the idea is to mostly-contain solids for a moment until detected, while letting liquids through unimpeded. (Don't put a swim-diapered baby on the couch!) Urine is generally sterile, anyway... I'd worry more about the uncle who hasn't showered in a few days.

Okay, another question: if I were to fill it straight from the well, what problems would I have to expect? Is there anything about the iron and sulphur that would make balancing the chemistry difficult, or is it just the issues of smell/ staining the pool? Thanks!
