    Running Filter 24/7 = $732 electric bill :(

I haven't had to use the heat pump at all this summer, so that theory is out. My electric bill for last July, with no pool, was around $500. I guess paying $200+/month for running the pool pump is to be expected...but not fun.

    Running Filter 24/7 = $732 electric bill :(

wow...1500 watts. Thanks Jason. That explains it. Thanks for your help with that. My only option is lowering the time. I will start with 12 hours/day and go from there. crek31, that Infinity edge pool pic isn't mine...it's molarband's. It is one beautiful pool! Thanks again to everyone for...

Molarband, your pool is gorgeous! James, thanks for finding that pdf. I searched all day for that and could not find it. I definitely looks like the TriStar. Blue Haven must brand is differently. Here are my pics. From the looks of it...I do not have a 2 speed. Hope these pics explain...

    Running Filter 24/7 = $732 electric bill :(

I am seriously considering solar panels! You're not crazy...your right! My pump is not listed in Haywards site. It's odd. It has Hayward logo embedded in the plastic in 2 places...it as A.O. Smith as the maker of the pump...then stickers all over calling it "Blue Haven SmartMax Star Pump."...

    Running Filter 24/7 = $732 electric bill :(

Thanks for your replies! I feel like an idiot, though. How do I know if the pump is variable or 2 speed? There was small print thatexplains how to change it from high voltage to low voltage, but not sure if that has anything to do with being 2 speed. It has Blue Haven all over it, but it is...

    Running Filter 24/7 = $732 electric bill :(

Oh my. Inground SWG pool was finished in early June. August electric bill is off the charts. First question they asked me is... "do you have a pool?" I have been running the pump 24/7, since June. That was recommend by my pool guy and the inspector. The reason the August bill is so high...

Skimmer Lines Clogged with Concrete ~ Filter Losing Pressure

Re: Skimmer Lines Clogged with Concrete ~ Filter Losing Pres The other returns pressure seems OK. Interesting that one skimmer hole must be sealed shut. I thought I had a serious problem on my hands. I tried to dig out the concrete myself. Good thing I wasn't successful...lol!

Skimmer Lines Clogged with Concrete ~ Filter Losing Pressure

Re: Skimmer Lines Clogged with Concrete ~ Filter Losing Pres Thanks Bama, I guess my biggest issue is the bubbler. The pressure coming out of it is much lower than before. I don't know why it suddenly has lower pressure. The water coming from the bubbler only comes up about 1-2 feet now...

Skimmer Lines Clogged with Concrete ~ Filter Losing Pressure

Hey gang! I will try to explain best way I can without getting too wordy. New pool...opened in June. I just noticed a few days ago.... when taking out my skimmer baskets...there are two holes on the skimmer. One hole, in BOTH of my skimmers, are completely clogged with concrete that will not...

    Help...Kids Getting Swimmers Ear!

I've been reading up on CYA and its effect on chlorine. My CYA is low...my chlorine level is usually 3-4. QUESTION: Rather than raise my CYA level (currently 35), should I just lower my chlorine level to 2, as the pool calculator suggests? For a SWG pool, a chlorine level of 1-3 is...

    Help...Kids Getting Swimmers Ear!

The pool builder told me my pool was 34,000 gallons, but after filling it...it only took closer to 30,000 gallons. The bucket of CYA that I added was 2.5 pounds (40z). I definitely need to add more. With that being said, any suggestions on how to get a more accurate reading on CYA, rather...

    Help...Kids Getting Swimmers Ear!

Ironically, we have been running the filter 24/7, since the pool was finished in early June. Pool guy said it was easier on the pump. I have the TF-100 Test Kit. Here are my numbers... pH ~ 8.0 (always fighting it, since it is new plaster) TC ~ Between 2 & 3 FC ~ 4 CC ~ 0 TA ~ 70 CH ~ 150...

    Help...Kids Getting Swimmers Ear!

Thanks for the advise everyone! I have been using the rubbing alcohol/vinegar/peroxide combo since they said their ears hurt....and so far they say their ears are getting better and not worse. :goodjob: Glad I didn't waste a doctor visit. Added more CYA to stabilize my chlorine! Hope that...

    Help...Kids Getting Swimmers Ear!

Thanks Richard...that makes sense, since my CYA is still on the low side. I did add stabilizer the other day, but I do need to add more. That would also explain the immediate cloudiness after a rain, too. I am just "keeping up" with the bacteria. I will add more stabilizer today, thanks!

    Help...Kids Getting Swimmers Ear!

Two of my kids came down with Swimmer Ear on the same day. Pool is clear. I have SWG and have been testing the chlorine every other day. It has been 3-5. My pool is plaster and very new (finished in early June). I am still a little confused on the FC vs TC(?). Isn't the daily test FC, and...
