If budget is the concern (Like it was for me), Do the wall first this year, you can't risk pouring concrete or placing pavers without some kind of structure to prevent them from shifting or worse sliding. Yup its the standard. Just wanted to give you a closeup of what it looked like. When I purchased my pool I only had one "in person" example and the brochures which didnt give me enough to go on.

I think it would be difficult - might go through the foam and not the aluminum. There isnt more than a 1/2 inch on either side of the top to fasten to. Checked it out after I posted the question.

Chas do you think I could screw down from the top? My clips are installed in a similar way. If so I have several extra white screws that I used to install the coping - good news is it will still look like bad but it will match.

Thanks 2k - I actually tried tape - The gorilla brand. Problem is, as the coping/tape warms with the sun the tape will remain sticky hold on the wall and coping but doesnt prevent the clip from moving/shifting or popping off on the inside wall of the pool. I think this is the stuff I used -...

its all in the prep work. trench the contour of the pool 1.5 to 2x's width of the block level the trench with gravel - put down first course be sure to level it. Build up along the pool wall. If you do something like this where the block is close to the pool do not rely on gravity alone to hold...
