    MAJOR crisis on my hands

I let the pool turn cloudy - my fault. This morning my husband was vacuuming up dead algae and he sucked up a mini torpedo that he didn't see until it was too late. We can't find it at the end of the system, so it must be stuck in the pipes. Help!! Do we have any options except to stand back...

    Stubborn CYA

Not an indoor pool. I didn't really understand that comment either. It's been covered all week with a bubble cover while the CYA dissolved. No backwashing or cartridge cleaning.. Chlorine is 4, PH 7.6, TA 120. I've forgotten the most recent Hardness result. The Chlorine is holding nicely...

    Stubborn CYA

How do I determine what my chlorine level should be? Do I assume that my CYA is 30 and adjust accordingly?

    Stubborn CYA

Pool opened to no CYA. You told me to raise it. Easy enough. Five pounds of CYA and a week later, and the water is only slightly cloudy on my TF100 test kit, so basically no CYA. Chlorine has held at 5 most of the week and is down to 4 today with no CC. Pool has a solar bubble cover on all...

    I have no self-confidence!!

I need reassurance. Short history: Last spring our CYA was out of control. Drained, refilled, drained, refilled. TA was out of control. Acid and aeration until we wore out the compressor and had to buy another one. Everything was great the rest of the summer. Uncovered the pool two weeks...

    Is the algae gone?

Had a minor algae bloom while I was out of town. Cranked up the chlorine, no longer have any combined chlorine, but the pool is still mildly cloudy. I can see the drain and "Mr. Sucko", but it is not the crystal clear pool I had before I left. If I let the chlorine level return to normal will...

Am I finished with ALK and Ph?

After more than two weeks of aicd/aeration, I hope I'm finished. I'm out of acid and hope I'm where I need to be. This mornings test results with my TF test kit: FC 3.0 CC0.0 Ph7.2 ALK 90 (Although the pool store, which I cannot stay out of, said it was 60.) CYA 30 I have a severe lack of...

TA, Ph and other mysteries of the universe

OK. Let's assume that when husband comes home he doesn't want to invest any more money in any more gadgets. We have this nice yellow 15 gallon compressor and lots of pvc pipe. What is the optimal length of pipe, size of holes and number of holes? Is that a ridiculous question? I'd like to...

TA, Ph and other mysteries of the universe

It is capped. The original was a long piece of pipe with lots of little holes. We were afraid that is what caused the demise of the original compressor. So this new pipe is significantly shorter and just makes big bubbles. But shouldn't big bubbles eventually do the trick?

TA, Ph and other mysteries of the universe

I have a pool. I have a TF100 test kit. I have motivation. I thought that was supposed to be enough! My fiberglass pool is 20,000 gallons. Opened clear and enticing this year here in Midland, TX, where today will be the 4th 100degree day this week. I keep it covered with a blue bubble...
