White clumps at the bottom of the pool

The tile grout is the original color - the pool is only a few months old. It's very difficult to actually get some of the stuff for testing because it disintegrates as soon as you touch it. It's impossible to pick up with a net as it breaks into tiny specks that fall through the netting. I'll...

White clumps at the bottom of the pool

Thanks Patrick. If it's algae, is it harmful? Is it worth collecting a jar of it and getting it looked at (by whom in have no idea)?

White clumps at the bottom of the pool

Thanks Ike. I can give the following results: I get CYA tested every month. It was 30ppm 2 weeks ago. FC at the last test was 6.0 ppm but I suspect it's even higher now. PH is 7.6 TA is 80 Calcium hardness 189

White clumps at the bottom of the pool

We are currently going through the most intense heat wave South Australia has ever experienced. At the moment, the temperature outside is 44.4 degrees Celsius ( 111.92 degrees Fahrenheit). Because of the high bather load and intense sunlight,I've been running the SWG pump and chlorinator at...

Thanks Paul and others. Good to know that others have the same equipment. I'll get onto them at head office and report back.

    Astral viron chlorinators

I was wondering if anybody has any experience with these babies. I have an Astral Viron VpH V25 chlorinator. It has a chlorine setting from zero to eight. During this hot Aussie summer, I have been running it on 8. But on hot days, it sets itself back DOWN to 7 with a message that says "TOO...

    Topping up a SWG pool

Thanks Jeff. I'll get it checked for leaks just to make sure. It's only 4 months old but you never know.

    Topping up a SWG pool

Sorry Jeff. Not actually a truckload. That's the Australian tendency for exaggeration coming through! I lose about a tile height in evaporation a week. The only reason I asked the question was because it occurred to me that I am adding fresh water that hasn't been treated yet to the pool, so I...

    Topping up a SWG pool

Does anybody have any tips on topping up a SWG pool for water lost due to evaporation? Mine loses a truckload of water every week! Is there a proper way to do it or do you just shove the hose in the pool and turn it on? Do you need to run the chlorinator and pump for any period after adding...

SWG pool questions (new pool owner)

This may sound a little simple, but if I have a higher CYA, don't I have to run the SWG longer anyway to maintain the higher FC required with a higher CYA? If I'm therefore gong to run the SWG longer anyway, isn't it better to have a lower CYA and not run the risk of not having enough FC for...

Safety of pool water after a storm

One of the absolutely non-negotiable things around having a pool as far as I'm concerned is the safety and health of my kids. I'm sure we're all the same when it comes to that. And so, I'm constantly on the lookout for things that may put their health at risk, particularly as I'm still learning...
