I'm on board; want to ditch pool guy

I had the same issues as you. (CYA 125) I used the tarp method. I bought a blue tarp at home depot. I think it was about $100. As I drained the water out I put new water on top. It worked swimmingly and I have maintained my CYA ever since.

CoverPools broken rope (inground, rope in the wall)

I have been through this. This site was helpful. http://www.automaticswimmingpoolcoverparts.com/Maintenance-Items-bearings-pulleys_c13.htm?page=all There is also a you tube video as to how to sew the new rope with pre sewn canvas on to your cover. If I find it again I will post it.

Auto cover rope replacement for CoverPools SAVE-T COVER II

Re: Auto cover rope replacement for CoverPools SAVE-T COVER I ordered a replacement rope form these guys. http://www.automaticswimmingpoolcoverparts.com/Maintenance-Items-bearings-pulleys_c13.htm?page=all What is important is to buy the rope with a pre-sewn piece of canvas attached at the end...

CoverPools broken rope (inground, rope in the wall)

I had the same problem. I use what I would describe as an "ice pick" tool or an awl, which I then bent with pliers into a fish hook. Once that was accomplished you can reach either the inside or outside rope. Once you "hhok" the rope you can pull it all the way through. A little tricky at the...

    Outdoor Cushions

I recently ordered about a dozen cushions from overstock.com. I was pleasantly surprised and they seem to be the cheapest I could find.

    In-ground Concrete Pool

Sorry I dont have any pictures of the tarp process. I can report that it worked as simple as it sounds. It took about two days - the main delay was that I used only a pool cover pump to drain out the pool, which went slowly. If I had to guess why this method could have failed someone, it...

    In-ground Concrete Pool

Here is what I did when I wanted to change my water last year. I bought one of those blue tarps from the home depot - about 50'x100' size. I think it was about $125. I then placed it in the pool and simultanesouly pumped water from the bottom of the pool and ran a garden hose to the top of the...

New to pool - but just got my test kit! woot!

I live in north Jersey too and had the exact same problem you have. (Bought a house with a pool I have no idea how to operate) After reading alot on this board I came to the inevitable conclusion that the cheapest and really only option is to drain the pool partially. (It is also the hardest and...
