    no chlorine reading

If you want to keep some chlorine in there until the kit arrives. If you are assuming you have 0 now, I would use pool math to bring it up to maybe 6 or 7. It would depend on the bleach concentration whether it would be 1 or 2 gallon. Pool math should set you straight.

    Confused...

In an earlier post you said you added 1.5 lbs (24 oz) of stabilizer. To get to 30, you would have to add 72 oz. Your 1.5 lbs should take you to 10, but that won't register on the test. Mark

Opened the pool and first store test results very high Chlorine and CYA levels

Welcome. Chlorine lock is their code word for your CYA is too high. You need to get a test kit so you can get accurate results yourself, but yes you are going to need to drain some water and test again. How does the water look? You will need to keep your chlorine level high until you get your...

    Help with BBB!

The poster said the tests were from the pool store. Most people here recommend the TF100 test kit from http://tftestkits.net/splash-page.html In general I think your plan is correct, but you can also use pool math site to get some chlorine in there now (maybe up to 5) to prevent things from...

    Newbie who needs help!

I set up one of these a long time ago, but you would need to attach the skimmer plate that lines up the hole in the liner with the skimmer hole right away or the weight of the water will make it impossible to align. Mark

    First Test with TF100

Your water looks clear and the numbers are good, though the FC is a little low. If you are not experiencing chlorine loss overnight your slam may not have been necessary and depending on your numbers this morning you can adjust the SWG to generate a little more CL, turn the SWG back on swim...

    GFCI Plug on Pump

No, but if the outlet is close to the pool it should be GFCI protected so that anything else plugged in will not be a risk.

New Pool - first testing and need feedback

welcome to the forum. Bring the PH down with muriatic acid. Add the appropriate amount, then wait 30 minutes and test again. The level may actually be higher so you may need to add more. the second thing to do would be to double check the FC and CC tests with the powder test. 1.5 CC means you...

New, proud owner of neglected 50 year old gunite pool

We remodeled our 50+ year old pool last year. One thing to consider would be thin pavers instead of tearing out and replacing all of the concrete. Our deck and some major cracks and broken up areas. Those small areas were torn out and new concrete poured. We then covered everything with thin...

All the problems - CYA, Main Drain, Algae, Sand Change, Filter ID.

svenpup said most of what needs to be said. You need to get a good test kit, find out your real cya level and then drain some water and refill to get the cya and CH level down. You can then do the slam process with liquid chlorine (bleach) to get things under control and then it will be easy...
