Pump Motor is toast. 14 moths old Hayward Max Flow XP 2 speed 1hp

The pump has performed flawlessly until now. Any suggestions? replace motor or motor and pump. It's a nice little pump and I would hate to have to change plumbing to fit another brand.

Pump not working again suspect bad temp control

Pump not working suspect bad temp control. See picture of Penn A19AAF temp control and timer setup. Basic setup..Timer has a toggle switch at bottom that I flip to change speeds on pump (slow during normal operation fast for vacuuming). I (or rather my electrician friend) installed timer, and...

    Prventing twigs in plumbing

I am looking for a clever way to prevent the 2-3" long twigs that get sucked into the vacuum when I clean. I always try to remove them with pool net but the stubborn ones stay too close to the pool bottom and I cant catch them. Most are flexible enough to end up at the pump basket but often I...

Can bubbles in return be caused by leak in return side?

If you don't use the clarifier you might consider removing it. Also suggest that you check plumbing connections. I had mystery bubbles in my supply that I traced to a bad plumbing joint. I applied generous amount of PVC glue and temporarily solved problem. Ultimately I replaced inline...

Re plaster or repaint? Pool Poll

I'll study posting pix as suggested. New question about calcium hardness and new plaster. I tested for CH and have reading of 120. I entrered 120into pool calculator and it suggests adding 426 oz of calcium chloride. That's 26 pounds !!! Is this correct? Come to think of it, if I...

Re plaster or repaint? Pool Poll

It took two men 4 days to chip away the epoxy paint and clean out hollow spots (with water pressure and hatchets, yes, Boy Scout style hatchets) They lost money on that detail. As I suspected the tile and coping was bad too. Tile was replaced and coping pulled out and repaired. Total cost...

2 speed or not 2 speed?

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I went with MaxFlo XL SP2307X10 I almost went with the SP2607X102S because of bigger leaf capacity. Then I took a closer look and did not like the square shaped lid gasket.

2 speed or not 2 speed?

The two bolt screw down lid looks more conveient and pot size on SP2607X102S looks bigger. I am looking for actual size on line and not found it in Hayward specs. Price is certainly more attractive.

2 speed or not 2 speed?

RFI. How does Hayward Super Pump 2-speed SP2607X102S sound to the group for $478 plus shipping? I considered swapping motor on existing Sta-rite pump with new AO Smith 2-speed motor and seals but there is only a two hundred dollar difference in parts when done. Sta-rite is 7 years old and...
