    yep....sure enough it's a bad gauge. removed the top to filter and gauge still read 25. haha. thanks so much for your help. now, to clear the algae. I may come calling again. ha!

    I was using the trichlor granuals to raise the cya without having to buy a big jug of stabilizer that I won't use. I thought I'd be able to sanitize while adding stabilizer. Then, when desired levels are reached, I was planning on reverting to the bleach method.

    Thanks so much! Our fill water was from one of our county's fire hydrants. I don't know if it just had a yellowish tinge that combined with our bluish liner to make the green color.
