Cant Get Rid Of The Light Green Water

Its been a hot and rainy summer so far here in Cleveland and in 10 years of ownership have never experienced this issue before. No matter how long I run the pump and keep the chlorine up the green tint seems to come back if I'm not constantly shocking. Have never had a problem like this. Pump...

Best Way To Raise PH without Raising Alkalinity

I am getting ready to flock my in-ground pool to vacuum to waste all the dead algea after an algea bloom. Alkalinity is 95 and PH is 7.2. Bottle of flock recommends PH to be 7.8 or above for it to work as advertised and I don't know why. Should I try to raise the PH up? How do I raise it up...

Treating Pool In Winter To Prevent Miserable Opening Every Year

Looks like my pool in October with the leaves. As tight as you can get the cover with the heavy winds you do get leaves and worms in the pool. I do blow the leaves off every chance I get. Thinking about running an external pump with hoses in the pool in the winter to circulate the water so I...

Treating Pool In Winter To Prevent Miserable Opening Every Year

I close my pool late september, early october and the water is 60ish. I add a bottle of polyquat 60 also and bump up chlorine a week before closing. All leaves are removed and pool is brushed. Water was green upon opening and the water temp was 54. Go figure.

Treating Pool In Winter To Prevent Miserable Opening Every Year

Thanks for responding. I follow the closing as closely as I can. I have a mesh cover and a lot of trees around the pool so I close before the leaves really start coming down. Water is usually in the low 60's when I close. I check the water during the winter and spring and it's always clear...

Treating Pool In Winter To Prevent Miserable Opening Every Year

Hi Everyone, I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area and have an inground pool. I correctly close the pool every fall and add all of the correct chemicals to get me through the winter. The pool is covered and lines are blown out and capped so I cannot run the pump till I open. Every year I open...

Thanks for reading this. I opened my pool last week to an algea bloom which is about 95% cleared at this time with continual shocking. CYA is 0 and I am blowing through 3 gals of bleach a day not to mention pucks as well to try to bring up CYA. Not working. 10-12 at night when I add bleach...

Need Help With Specifics for algae bloom upon opening

I started doing the trouble free pool method last year and had my best year ever with the pool. This is a great forum. I didn't have to add stabilizer last year because CYA was around 30 all year. Upon opening this year my pool was green. I balanced the water as best I could. Alkalinity is...

Numbers With New Taylor 2006 Kit

Thanks, this website is great. My water is crystal clear. What I have to do now is add enough chlorine every day to keep it at 4. I'm going to try adding it early evening and bring level up to 6-7 and see how much it dissipates in a 24 hour period to keep me at 4 until CYA rises. Then I will...
