Kick off the 2016 Pool season!

Well I've got CYA up to 30 finally, shooting for 40, so not long now. CH is 125 though, which is what I remember from last year.. should probably get on that. PH dropped to 7.2 probably due to trichlor, so looks like more soda ash in order. Water is crystal clear though!

Getting started for 2016 just want to clarify some things

Thanks, Where does one buy Borax/Soda Ash? Last year all I did for PH was baking soda and had been told to not adjust PH until after TA was at a decent level.. Kept my TA around 50 for the rest of the season and kept the PH pretty stable at 7.5. Was at a CYA of 40 or so last year, guess I...

Getting started for 2016 just want to clarify some things

Just wanting to verify the order of some things I should be doing.. I don't have exact numbers in front of me but I'm sitting somewhere around FC=10, CC was around .5 last I checked CYA <20 (filled to the brim of the beaker in the TFP kit I can still easily see the black dot, but it is...

    2016 bleach prices

This is what I found here in NC.. last year they didn't have the "chlorinating liquid" and I had to use 8.25% bleach from the laundry aisle which was more expensive, and lower concentration. Was excited this year.

DiChlor just seems like an efficient/easy way to add CYA, that's what I did last year.

Kick off the 2016 Pool season!

Initial test levels TC= <.5 considering 2 gal at 10% and 1 gal at 8.25% bleach added yesterday this is consuming lots of chlorine! Add 3 gal 10% tonight TA= 30.. a little low PH=6.8 a little low. will add baking soda to bring up TA and PH CYA <20, looks like I'll get some dichlor shock to...

Kick off the 2016 Pool season!

General question... is my theory on ramping up chlorine and running pump BEFORE doing a chem test sound, or do most people do a chem test immediately, before doing anything?

Kick off the 2016 Pool season!

Yep, last year (our first as pool operators) was a disaster.. got the cover off, then scrambled to find a "pool guy" which took us about $400 in the wrong direction with no results other than lighter wallet... Finally gave up on him and found TFP.

Kick off the 2016 Pool season!

Thanks to a friend loaning their sump pump, and some extra muscle we got the winter cover off yesterday! Underneath was not clear (didn't do a full, proper slam when the cover went on) but not terrible. Green tint and cloudy but could still see the bottom @10' down. We just have the temp...

    Budget automatic make-up water system

Thanks, might have to look into one of those. Like that idea, as the skimmers were a little weak this summer, and might be nice to reduce bottom drain flow to get more powerful skimmers. Price isn't terrible, and shouldn't be terrible to do myself. Thanks for the suggestion!

The farthest is bottom drain, next is skimmers and closest is return line. The grey running along the floor is the backwash/waste. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
